This is what i called a truly ringing poem that resonates in our ears and humming our brains. i feel it too at times and usually those times are when we are alone. We seems to be receiving my message signals from above but just cannot tune in. As sudden as it comes then there's silence. This is an intiguing poem and deserves a six star but mine have all gone to heaven, I think.
So a Virtual ****** Stars. In fact I have indicated to Gert Sherwood that the poems I like best are those that are simple, fluent in its flow and brings a message open to interpretation and this one is one of them. I loved it!
I will be checking out your other writes later as this one indicated that you are putting subtle messages in your poems which i found to be intriguing and interesting. I am running late but I shall check out what Tom has been up to lately, smiles.
Cheerio, have a ringing smiling day, best, Ritchie. :))
P.S. As usual, a long review from me meant the poem had been excellently penned and delivered. Bravo! That sound could be our muse urging us to write something tangible.

Hi Tom,
Sometimes a poem can be so delightfully simple that it leaves us to ponder after reading it over and over again.
This one came from your own experiences and it showed.
Yes, verbose Ritchie is back and when my muse goes fast forward, you will know it from my review, LOL.
Cheerio, Ritchie. :))

Interesting poem about the experience of ringing in the ears which can arise from a problem in the inner ear or from a brain issue. Its almost always physically based. Your poem conveys the annoying subjective experience of the problem. don

It is a nice free verse sketch where you have nicely narrated a personal experience.
Its explicit nature and tone allows for ease in comprehension.
There is a ringing
in my ears
that will not go
away.
When too loud,
it draws
some tears,
but
that feeling doesn't stay.
Nice use of R,T consonance in the above verses. The rhyme of away/stay enhances the fluidity.
Optional suggestion in punctuation here:
When occupied(,)
my mind forgets
and thinks(-)
it isn't anymore.
But there it is
again,
lurking
in the background.
You build a nice contrast here. Excellent use of R,N and T consonance.
Just like
it(')s always been(--)
a constant,
irritating sound.
I like how you shift the scenes and complete a loop, with you coming to the same point.
Warm regards,
Anupam

I read that the ringing of the ear is ear wax wanting to run free, but it's stuck for some reason. Chewing food helps it along.
I liked your poem. You're funny. Good work.

Tinnitus is annoying. With me, it comes and goes. Caffeine and alcohol can aggravate the situation. Exercise definitely helps. Some say gingko biloba helps. In any case, good luck with it. I loved the humorous photo that went with the poem.

Tinnitus is quite troublesome to many people and as you had stated
Can affect you differently at different times.
Sometimes it's a whisper at others a roar and the only certainty is
That it seems determined to stay. Seek medical opinion as to the cause and possible treatments. Sound therapy works for some.
Well written and accurate description of this ailment in free verse form.

Hi Tom,
Sounds like tinnitus. I've got some friends who suffer from it. It's awful when the noise gets really loud.
Get it checked out with your doc., okay?
Take care.
Love,
Sonali
How's the book going? You haven't been reviewing lately, have you?

Interesting Treischel...maybe you should have an ENT specialist look at it. I've once had this before and it is quite bothersome!
