What a very enticing phrase to grasp our attention
"Dark eyes watch
from beneath the black." And then, the image of the River Styx is so alluring...

Well! ,a welcome change of tone from you and many layers to this dark poem .the dark eyes can be of an evil mind who is waiting to capture people at their weakest poet.mudslinging is her /his past time hoping to finish them off emotionally and physically-leading to self destruction?. then Death too can watch relentlessly to net souls to ferry across the styx.(i forget the name of the boatman who is supposed to row them.)thanks for making my brain work!

Perfect artwork and vivid imagery throughout the poem According to some versions, Styx had miraculous powers and could make someone invulnerable.
Blessings, Rouskin

Something unsettling, something foreboding in this poem. The eyes are windows to the soul and this soul is dark. The picture and poem depict how Hades waits with supposed beauty to prey on the weak and disillusioned. The flow was such that it forced you to slow down to really feel the blackness of the message. Well done.

You have painted a stark and realistic portrait of
'lack of compassion'.
No matter the pain, the despair, or even grief:
No tears they show, they just wait.
Well penned, :-) Carolyn

Hi Gungalo, although dark, this is a surprising and welcome departure from your usual writes. In places it casts credence on the expression of "the devil may care" with grief stricken bloodshot eyes. Yet a sinister contradiction of hope for a tragedy thrown into the mix.
A very interesting read. Excellent work...Chris.

Wish I had sixes...you created some poem here my friend about this psychopath, unfeeling monster, waiting to feed from emotional weakness of others. Love dark eyes... so I better watch out. Big hugs. Pili

Death portrayed as a woman, a seductress seems to be a very old reference. The metaphor is fascinating as we seem to need personification, a face in preference to nonbeing or nothingness. It gives the incomprehensible a known quality. don
