I love poetry that tells a story. I love poetry whose story is gripping and redolent of the supernatural (okay, this is more than redolent: it is!)
I hear you not, all life has wrought soon ends, once off this ledge! [Oh! how I adore that line!]
I'm glad I read the Author's Notes about the flock being called a murder. That's weird. But, no weirder than a reviewer who is poring over that line, trying to bend and warp suicide into murder!

This was an excellent poem. It was written very well. Format made it easy to follow. Subject was clear as was message in last stanza. This was a work of perfection. I could find no flaws. Good writ, God bless.

I think this piece rates a six, It is well written and tells ordwr to create this great, beautiful story in rhyme. The words chosen are carefully placed in the proper order and the results is a six.

I will not view ravens/crows in the same way again. They are so smart and opinionated, it now seems obvious that some of us have been rein"crow"nated. Hope suicide is not the only way to earn flyer miles. I think Poe died of TB or drink, but hope his raven poem got him honorary wings.
A poem that kept my attention and sent my mind cruising. By the way, is the story original or is it based on a specific folklore story?

Thanks, Skylight, I hpoe old Edgar earned his wings myself.
The story is an original, but I was reading some Comanche Indian folklore about misbehaving children who turned into crows to learn a lesson. Forced to eat carrion and he like, they learned real quick!

Your story in rhyme has a legendary feel about it. It is very beautiful with excellent choice of words, rhyme and language. I can quite believe what you say about them not being associated with death, but being signs of good luck. There is a legend at the Tower of London that if the ravens who live there become less than six, the monarchy will fall-it is a myth, but you never know. Most enjoyable read and lovely illustration. This was so well written in hectameter with both end and internal lines. Great imagery and alliteration throughout the entire poem. We have a raven that loves to tease and taunt my dogs. We have lots of crows around our house, hell, I should be the luckiest guy in the world...oh well. Your solid meter and rhyme enhanced the feel of mystic delights of the verse, and allowed the reader to be more involved in the story-line. By the way, we have a lovers leap down canyon from our house, but last I heard, the last couple to jump from the cliff, in the early 1900's, just made a mess, (sorry). I loved your idea of the evolution of the spirit in transformatin...It made for a much better ending. Great job with this write...best wishes, Bill

Sure she would've, Ridley. All of the moms thought I was the greatest kid when I was growing up, so polite...then, I got their kids outside around a campfire and scared the bejeezus outta them , lol!
