This was a well thought out and insightful poem. The message was one of despair turned into light. Many people have had to grow up far before their time. I'm glad yours is a happy rebirth of the child within you. Innocence never dies.

Hi.
This coming out poem summarizes the three phases of one life in an interesting fashion.
First, the over-responsible over burden childhood. This phase is one of retreat from peers and perhaps understanding.
Second, the alcoholic stage, freeing and exciting to begin with, to develop into an addiction, I surmise. This stanza provides the best line in the poem as follows:
"couldn't manifest a childhood without some new provisions"
"Provision" is an excellent word here because, like all good poetry, it is ambiguous. It means the sustenance required to go on but also a shadow meaning to provide for, as in love or care. The provision required to get one's childhood back.
I enjoyed your poem very much.

Thanks for reviewing, glad you enjoyed. When I was writing it I was a little concerned that only two lines referencing the addiction may have been inadequate, but I think now, it may have been just enough to tie into what follows.

I appreciated the way you wrote about the unraveling coming to fruition and how that led to bouts with alcohol. Very creative and thought-provoking. The entire poem gave an insight into something personal but by reading it, I didn't feel like some sort of voyeur peeking through the blinds uninvited. I felt more like a person asked to sit and be empathic, understanding someone working through their issues and FINALLY becoming honest.
