"Shall I compare thee to a winter's eve?
Thou art more frigid and more icy cold.
Rough winds do shake the autumn leaves. I grieve
Because their fine display is pyrite gold..."

I must say, I liked your chillier rendition much better than that William whatizname fella, 'T'. Excellent sonnet structurally, too, in flawless iambic pentameter, at least as far as I could tell. A bit ---darker, sexier. That's probably why I enjoyed it so much.

Well done!

I'm sorry, I am out of sixes. But I would be tempted to give this a twelve. And I freely admit I miss that stream, turns out it wasn't endless...I'm married to my prince.

Great job, form, flow, rhyme and imagery. If there's a quality in this I missed, well, damn me.

Outstanding. :) Carrie

You did this very well in the Shakespearean sonnet style. I can feel the cold and loneliness of this poem. Good luck in the contest.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I may be wrong; bur I see it not as much as a parody than a take of; even a contradiction. You tell a story which is just the opposite of Shakespeare's poem. It is his style; but it is contemporary work of literature based on sonnet 18. I am not qualified to judge your work on technical therms, but I think you did an outstanding job.
I am honored to provide the illustration. Thank you for using my painting.

Thanks very much for your review, Cleo - also for the use of your very fine artwork and for the six stars. You are absolutely right about 'parody' - I've amended the subtitle to 'A cooler version of Shakespeare's Sonnet 18'

nice poem.!!!
beautiful words, the typical Shakespeare vocabulary.
i think you should separate the lines according to the rhyme scheme. most of the people have done it for the same contest.
a lovely and well written poem.
best of luck in the contest
Visheshta

This is an absolutely brilliant parody of the original! Its very funny and I'm sure Shakespeare would roll over in his grave if he heard it! Its well rhymed, the rhythm is as tight as the original! The language used is clever and imaginative. A good work. If I had six you would have it! Blessings, Roy.

LOL Great. You've turned Shakespeare on his head (bard = drab). The minor key to Will's C Major. Clever, clever, clever. Well done, Tony!
