Dear Tony - this was a brilliant twist and you had me laughing by line two. Even though its a rather heartache type of post I think you pen it with flare...and who hasn't had that type of love - except it never was...
Unique and creatively penned - good luck in the contest.
Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks Maureen. A bit cheeky, aping the Bard! Glad it gave a moment or two of amusement. Best wishes, Tony

I really like this one, Tony. In fact, I think you are a genius! The poem is a great send up of Shakespeare's Sonnet, but very cleverly put together. I read it out to Pete. My very best wishes for the competition. Giddy

To some, love is a game and a lover's heart is the prize. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read.

"But nature changes course when opportune"
That is quite the brilliant mouthful in the midst of this hilarious and superior to the original piece. I'm sure by the time Shakespeare exited the garden she had already boinked the gardener. I like the honesty of this much better. This is perfectly written. Loved it!! mikey

Hey Tony, a really 'cool' adaptation of Will's original sonnet! This little send up is expertly executed because it's oh so subtle (although 'Thou art more frigid and more icy cold' kinda screams out! LOL).
A richly-worded enjoyable read. Well done!
Cheers
Paula

Tony, this is an absolute hoot! Your muse was truly in a creative bent with a tickling of its funny bone the whole time you were writing. Thank you greatly for the smiles I had reading this all the way through. Sincerest best wishes!

I seem to truly like your poem a lot better than Shakespeare's. Your poem is very flagidious, demoralizing And iniquitous and righteously so. This is of course after reading your disdain of this inept relationship: "Small ghosts of falsehood gray against the moon" or "Those harlot words, like lips vermilion". Thanks so much Tony for sharing such an ingenious poem with everyone and may you always find peace wherever you go.

Tony, you are so sincerely welcome. My wife used the word explaining to her fellow worker of how he gets under her skin.

It reminds me of a marvellous book my brother had: "The Superior Person's Book of Words" by Peter Bowler which arms you with some most disarming insults!

A good attempt to paraphrase this sonnet. It can never stand on its own as the famous sonnet will always be foremost in our minds. A well presented posting.

Wow, Tony...I wish that's all I needed to say....I like yours as much as Shakespeare's . His, has darling buds of May ....words that have become the fabric of our lives..........because their fine display is pyrite gold....may become part of our consciousness but time will have to tell...and sonnets today, sad today do not do so well...you can't make a video game out of them.:o)
God bless
