Brilliant, Karyn. Alvin was indeed a sensitive and sharing soul. Among his many attributes one of the most remarkable was the kinship he inspired among his students and how they reached out to each other and others in kindness and a spirit of sincere generosity. That fact alone is testimony to the value and reach of a genuinely decent human being.
Out in nature today, I was just thinking of him again and how he would have encouraged me to present the wonder that constantly surrounds us in haiku.
I love your expression of gratitude to our dear departed, haijin and the artwork is perfect!

I never knew the deceased, but the more of these I read, the more I am blown away by the depth of feelings being poured out in your beautiful tributes. Yours shows another aspect that I hadn't read about yet, & something that clearly touched you. Thanks for sharing.

I really didn't know Alvin, but read a few of his poems when he posted. He had his craft down pat. He seemed mild in his approach when he reviewed me. Your poem is a marvelous tribute. Les

Karyn, this is a wonderful tribute to Alvin. He was a dauntless crusader, and I respected him for his patience in teaching the Japanese form. He taught me to say a lot in as few words as possible, no matter what poetic form I was writing. He will be missed in our writing community.

All the poems written as tribute to Alvin are stunning, and speak of a master beyond the rest with his talent for haiku. Yours is no exception. A loving tribute indeed. Rest in peace, dear Alvin.

IndianaIrish, The first thing that catches my eye was the title and especially the picture which both complement your poem and vice a versa so purely. In your authors note from you said patience and kindness I also would like to get sincerity and truthfulness that was the only way he could caress you from his heart. Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem with others and may you and yours always find time to have peace.

This was a beautiful and heartfelt tribute to a great poet and teacher. I never had the pleasure of taking a class but learned from his critiques. He was always gentle and encouraging. nicely done.

This is a nice tribute to Alvin T. whom I never actually met, but have heard tremendous good things about. I do know he was the Asian poetry expert and mentor to many. 'Dauntless crusader' would be a great way to be remembered.

Yes, we all want to remember Alvin for all his good
works. I hardly knew him, but I grieve with
my friends who were close.
I wish I had more to say.
Peace, Lee

Thank you so much for the gold star for my tribute poem for Alvin, hw. Without his encouragement and confidence in me, I never would have tried to submit my poems for publication. Also, it was his idea in one of his classes to write and publish the senryu book by so many FS women. Thanks for your kind review and comments.
