For those suffering in the East, North, Midwest, and Southeast I sure hope that this springtime comes very soon. Your poem is very pleasurable, serene and unflappable And gives a sense of warmth and comfort. Technically your syllabic format is done correctly. Thank you for sharing and posting your work for everyone and may you find and have peace always.

    Alex,
Thank you so much for the kind words and generous review. Indeed as much as I dread summer, I am truly looking forward to and am hopeful for a long spring. I believe we are all due some mild weather for a change.

You anxiously await springtime what with the awful storms we have experienced this year. A bird (Cardinal) becomes that harbinger of change eagerly awaited. Well done and good luck with the contest. Emeka

Thank you so much for the generous review and wonderful feedback. Indeed I am so tired of being cold, although when I think about the heat and humidity that await for summer I tend to become more patient.

How appropriate your theme for this brutal winter. The cardinal certainly makes the brilliant comparison that you address in the piece. Hardy birds this specie is to withstand the vagaries of Nature in this part of the world I have a pair that cavorts around the bird feeder.

Thank you so very much for your kind review. We have several different species of birds around the property, but I must admit the red cardinal is one of my favorites.

Great Haiku - gives the reader a vivid [picture
Good use of alliteration in first line,
second line expands the picture and explains
"contrast"
Adds emotional personal element of hope in third line.
Good luck in the contest. Nancy

They nest out here as well. We try to keep the black sunflower seeds out for them. Well done with this poem. Best wishes in the contest. Blessings

Well written 5/7/5 poem with excellent artwork The northern cardinal is so well loved that it has been named the official bird of no fewer than seven U.S. states
Best of luck and be blessed

Great haiku and the picture is perfect. The red against the white is a vivid contrast.. White for winter, red for summer, bravo Judester
