Thank you for added your voice to the memoriam for Alvin. I did not realize you were one of his students. Your senryu communicates a powerful message. Our haijin would be proud. Warm regards- Joan

I took several classes from him.
Happy weekend.

You were fortunate--I could never work them into my schedule. I hope your weekend is pleasant as well. -Joan

Hi Dallas,
Thank goodness for teachers like Alvin! Our words no matter how few should explode across the page! People have to FEEL what one writes and only the right words make that happen. Alvin really made you think about what you were writing. This poem fits the enthusiam he gave his students. I think it's a wonderful posting for the Guest book! Very Nicely Done! :o) Helvi

teachers lessons
tucked inside my passion
waiting to explode
This piece meets the criteria of the Haiku poem as this piece does not exceed 17 syllables. Good complimentary photo. Good alliteration with teachers/tucked/to. Clear message that is short and simple.

How I wish I could take another of his classes. I took four in Biblical poetry and loved them all. He lives on in hearts.

I think Alvin would appreciate the beauty of that.

What does haiijin mean? I love the truth that I see in this assuming it refers to lessons on how to write. Narrator can't wait to get out of class and put new ideas to work.

A haiku master. This is a tribute to Alvin Tetherington, the instructor here, on Japanese short forms, who recently passed away.

This is a great little poem. I assume it is in honor of Alvin? I never took a class from him - wish that I would have.

Excellent tribute to Alvin, especially in conjunction with your painting, the passion that he inspired in your work an explosion of color, haiku creativity.

Thank you. I had been writing haiku for years and thought I knew what I was doing, till I took some of his classes and found out I still had plenty learn.
