WOW!! This was my favorite part: "Every single person that read it thinks you are a no talent gutless punk that doesn't have the balls to state your name or post a single line of your writing".
Michael, I write in FanStory in Spanish, but love the English side too, because the bunch of wonderful writers and poets, and the chance to improve my English. Thanks, I really have a good lesson, and a very enjoyable time reading this excellent 'Commentary and Philosophy Non-Fiction"...

Ha, Love it Michael. I entered a contest a few months back and had pretty well the same comment. The unknown reviewer wrote, "I didn't much like either one of the (two) entries but this one came the closest to being an actual script." That's basically exactly the same insult and probably came from the same assclown.

You gotta laugh at those kind of dumbasses, but it does concern me, when a freak like that might and likely does scare away new members. Yellow-bellied sap-suckers is the word for the type -- they are worse than garbage post kids.

The ones that really get me, as much as I ever let any of the shenanigans that go on around here bug me, is the reviewer who will give me a 3 star review because they didn't like my font colour and will turn around and give another post, that's out of meter, out of rhyme and didn't follow contest rules a sixer. Clearly when that happens, the assclown reviewer is someone who thinks they know me but doesn't like me for reasons unknown to me because I have no idea who they REALLY are.

Newsflash buddy, you don't have to like me but don't pretend it's because you don't like the colour of my font. It is from this cowardly game playing(among other reasons) that the site gains its vanity reputation.

Moreover, there are some folks here who have one paid account and a few standard/unpaid accounts from which they attack people they don't like or are envious of which is worse. The one thing we do know, is a standard member can't vote in the contests. Thanks for that smart move, Tom.

Then there are those who have two or three paid accounts - one at the office, one on their phone, and one on their home computer. Man I couldn't be arsed to do all that. What for? A trophy? It sure doesn't mean your writing's any better and neither does it mean your name will be among those found on the New York Times Bestseller list -- in fact likely the opposite. Having said that, all this kind of contemptible behaviour is oh so common. You find it everywhere in the world.

Can it fixed by, Tom. I don't know how. It's a membership problem. If certain members choose to behave like assclowns what can you do, except report them when you find them and Tom can find their IP and if they match, sayonara asshole.

In the meantime, enjoy the good friends and good reviewers you do have and block the standards if you find one of them worms their way into every single thing you post.

Couple of typos:

have no problem attatching (attaching) my name to what I write.

Still, the principal (principle) is the same.

I always enjoy a good rant, Michael and you do them such justice! So many congratulations to you for this write.

Gloria

I thought I was obsessed. Do they really go to those lengths? Separate accounts and all of that. How insane. They still know themselves that they didn't win in their own right. How can that be satisfying? I think what really bothers me is the bully aspect of it. All the effort that eighteen people put into their pieces and this idiot tries to crap on it with his punk remark anonymously. Funny, it didn't even affect me! Gotta protect my peeps. mikey

I'm not fond of bullies myself. I can't imagine a win by cheating would be satisfying either, but I guess they figure it's a good way to avoid the reviewing process which is VERY time consuming.

Cheating also shows a complete lack of respect for the site, its members and even the craft of writing. Such behaviour is a sad testimony indeed but it's foolish to pretend cheating doesn't go on, because it does which is the reason I only enter contests that challenge me to learn a new form knowing before I even enter that I won't be winning.

Keep going, it's all VERY interesting.

Remind me not to make you angry. This was hilarious mikey. Nothing worse than these little bullies trying to spoil it for everyone else. You tear him to shreads and give us all a chance to stand up with you. This is like a petition that we are all signibg!! NG

Ha! This was fun. Bullies is the right term. Hate little punks in the dark. I don't mind someone ripping me and signing their name, that's what we signed on for. But, these little snakes? No! mikey

Hi michaelcahill,

Oh shit! We can post ratings and comments anonymously? I didn't realize that. But oh well, I stand by what I say and am happy to declare it.

I am in wholehearted agreement with this post. There is nothing more imposingly tiresome as those who make no effort yet condemn those who are trying. While I do not prescribe to "empty" encouragement, bonafide entries into said contests are meant to be read and critiqued, not ridiculed. Some people just like to blow off steam with their superior air but can't hold a candle to those who bother to light the flame. My best to you. ;) Chrisfiore

Agree with you 100%. About the only place to make an anonymous comment is the contests when we vote. That's where the little snide remarks show up. No big deal, but little things bug me more than big things. Hahaha. mikey

The little bugger did get on your nerves! There are a lot of this kind around here, just take a peak at the works of those on the 700+ places and imagine how one comes and splashes a three star comment on your work of many days and nights spent in conceiving and another few editing, and that comment has as many spags as fleas on a dog...I gave up on the contests here, as they are "framed" by the fan's loyalty-requested through Facebook or other means- and as for the site's jury, like Fortuna, blind-folded...
Great work! I laughed and got mad with you..

I totally agree and you are pointing out something that is important too, the effort that is made. I think that is what angered me the most. Thinking about the effort all those people made, doing their best and then this fool without the guts to even sign his name tries to put it down. There I go again! Appreciate the great input. Thank you very much, mikey

I find the comment more petty than offensive. And then, the introduction of necrophilia into the game confuses me. Necrophilia does not turn me on. As for contests, I have a dismal record but I am still a sucker for them. It must be the gambler in me. I think when we gamble we take our fates into our own hands for a while so I don't really care about the competitors. I have been called arrogant which confounds me because with every review I write, I am taking my chances and leaving myself open, like I'm doing now.

True what you are saying. I suppose the main complaint I have is the anonymous factor. I have no problem with anything someone signs their name to. That is just the start of a dialogue. We are here for critique, so that should be what we expect and even hope for. I'm a sucker for the contests too! Appreciate the candid response. Thank you kindly, mikey

Michael, I applaud you for writing this. Every bit here is true. There are also reviewers who have nothing to show but think they are the most authoritative reviewer. They give you 4 stars and tell you your content is very good. When asked what they find wrong [I'd like to know] to rate it with 4 stars... there's no reply.
Cheers
Sylvia

So very true. I get some wonderful 4 star reviews with tons of help to go along with them. I never mind that a bit. But, like you say, a 4 with nothing useful is hard to take. But, anonymous is the worst, not even a name to curse!! Hahaha. Thank you so very much. Big smiles! mikey

Mikey, it seems fair that one should have to identify oneself to leave a message in the voting booth. And, for Heaven's sake - if you don't find anything worthy of winning, JUST DON'T VOTE. I agree with you that it takes guts (and funds) to enter these contests, and it feels awful to end up voteless (been there, too). But better that than to be anonymously insulted. That's grade school stuff. Well said. :) Nancy

Thank you so much. It is not fun to be in last with no votes! An anonymous insult is uncalled for. This wasn't directed at my either. Gotta stand up for my peeps!! mikey

Dear mikey, you are really raging mad and I do understand where you are coming from. That line,"the best of the worst", is definitely uncalled for and a downright assault to the integrity of the FanStory writers, whom I have considered my family too. I like your killer ending, to borrow from your words,"But I'm tough, I can take the pain". Way to go and strike the arrogance of the faceless reviewer. God bless.

Hi
a very well written piece on what we all find annoying to say the least. It is so frustrating when you realize the person has not entered any work on FS, and has the gall to review with a deliberate intention to upset and be downright hurtful. Well at least we all are aware of these types of voyeurs.

a well written rant. Mary
