Masterfully creepy! Congrats on your win--you'll be getting another blue ribbon--"recognition"--I am the magic reviewer #15--my friends and I troll portfolios and play "Blue Ribbon Surprise"--we find a two-penny piece stuck at 14 reviews and top it off. Cheers. LIZ

Dear Aunty Harriett,

This is an ee-oo sort of nightmare, but there was humour in it - love the final line!

The description of the snake is colourful and clever - and quite accurate ... especially the .. head! (Chuckle!)

Sweet dreams, dear... ugh! :)

Well, this piece is quite interesting, and the picture very funny. But I guess for some others, it might be scary.
But you did well with the piece; and the picture goes along with it.
Congratulations on your winning!

I love the poem. I love the picture. I hate snakes. I would not abuse them. I just would not invite them home. Snakes are really good at hiding. They see you before you see them. They can kill you with one bite. Too powerful for me to mess with them. Great work. Good luck with the contest.

Oooh, you poor thing, when not even sleep is a respite. Oddly, snakes don't bother me but the tiniest of creepy crawlies can send me to the moon. When I have that recurring dream I look around in my life for the thing I need to change.

Good form and flow, nice pace, too. Bold of you to use a penis analogy but it works and makes sense.

Good luck in the contest. :) Carrie

Thank you Carrie; glad you liked it. But I heard there are creepy crawlies on the moon...six feet tall. LOL

I agree with you, ever since I was a kid a worm could send me off screaming, yet I hope one day to over come this fear and wear a boa around my neck, lol

I don't even like writing about the slimy things. My region abounds with deadly snakes, so we have to think about them. You've made these nightmares very real. The alliterative 'sleeping and it slithers' really gets into the head. And talk about wet dream phobias, it has a head like a penis! I love the finish, after another bite, another scream..and you advertise for a mongoose. Lovely work!
