Where is my six when I need it? This poem/story is just lovely, witty, and funny, and don't leave out imaginative and clever. Chuckle Chuckle. I picked up on a 10-12 syllable count, and your rhyme scheme worked well. A smooth meter flow. Good write.

Thank you, Tony Bronk!. I am delighted that you liked this poem well enough to consider giving it a six star rating. Yes, I tried to remain true to the fairy tale. I know it is mostly told in prose, but I tried to use the same syllable count 10-10-12-12 as the verse:
"Little pig, little pig, let me come in
Not by the hair of my chiny-chin-chin
Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in
And he huffed and he puffed and he blew the house in."

Thanks for noticing. I appreciate the encouragement. Debi

    Hi Benny Beeharry,
I wonder when Columbo gets around to testing the DNA if the stew will match the missing pig. hmmm. Probably.
I am so pleased that you enjoyed this bit of nonsense. Thank you for a wonderful review. Debi

Lovely! Reminds me of that wonderful series of children's stories, "Polly and the Stupid Wolf". You do tell these stories well. If they give children as much pleasure as they give me, you are on a winner!

Good use of the aabb rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good perfect rhyming with hall/call...trick/brick...go/so. Good description and alliteration. Good story telling mixed with humor. Good complimentary photo followed by a story that holds my attention from start to finish.

I wonder how many of the readers are familiar with Columbo? You have the flavor of his character to a tee. I used to watch it all the time. You nailed it. A very entertaining and perfectly flowing write. Perfect story in a poem with a killer tag line!! HAhaha. Pork stew. Classic. Good luck. Not many I've read are actual stories with a beginning, middle and end. mikey

    Hi Mikey,
I've met very few people who don't know who Columbo is, no matter their age. Columbo seems to be the iconic detective. Maybe it's all the reruns, or maybe the fact that he is set apart by the fact the fun is not seeing him figure out who did it. He seems to know that at the very beginning, the fun is how will he get the murders to trip themselves up?
Thanks for the very nice review. I am very complimented that you think I nailed Columbo's character. I am so happy you enjoyed reading this nonsense and especially that tag line. Thanks for the good wishes. I appreciate it. Debi

A witty twist on the old three little pigs childrens story. Good structure with good rhythm and rhyme. Reads a lot like a sonnet. Don

Thank you, Don. A sonnet? I was just thinking of the rhyme and rhyme in the verse within the story
Little pig, little pig let me come in
Not by the hair of my chiny-chin-chin
Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in
And he huffed and he puffed and he blew the house in

I appreciate the gracious remarks about the rhythm and rhyme. I am so pleased you enjoyed the story. Thank you. Debi

You wrote down in the fourth line: "they're pointing (as) us"
Instead of (at) us!!! I found your poem to be very amusing especially at the end. It seemed that pigs were not firing on all cylinders. Are they were quite mentally cumbersome. The characters were written very well and story-line was excellent. The rhymes are neither forced, labored or strained while the rhythm float very smoothly throughout the poem. Thank you so much for sharing and posting this poem for everyone. May you have a good one and God bless.

Thank you for catching that mistake, Alex. I read the poem through so many times and missed that. I have changed the work to "at".
Thank you for commenting on the characters and the story-line. I appreciate the encouraging review. Debi

You are so welcome Debbi and I'm somewhat the same way, I could read a poem so many times and can still miss a simple error.

I read it quietly and raised a smile then a little unsatisfied I read it again, this time out loud and I am still sitting here with a gurgling chuckle and a stupid grin on my face. Love it and wish you luck in the contest - I can't get this grin of my face that last lines was a real 'porker'.

Many thanks - Dinah

They're pointing as us - at us???????perhaps

Thank you, Dinah. I appreciate you catching the mistake. I did mean "at". I read this so many times looking for errors that I can't believe I missed it. I have corrected it. Thank you.
I am so pleased that you found the poem funny and it made you chuckle. Love the humor in you "porker" comment. Thank you for the good luck wishes. Debi

So, Pig Number Three ended up in the pot of scrumptious stew, if I read this right.

Clever twist.

It's a twist of another kind about adapting other stories. For example, "Little Red Riding Hood,", the wolf in sheep's clothing.

Thank you, stumbly. Yep, that is most likely where pig number three ended up. I'll bet Columbo took that evidence they handed over in the stew and had it analyzed. I wonder what the DNA will turn up?
Thank you for your wonderful review. Debi
