This is a story for young people with a bit of a twist. I don't suppose these took could have gotten married in the legal sense years ago unless Canada's law differ from ours. However love comes in many forms, and this is something that very suitable for the Valentine writing contest. Good luck.

you reflect my sentiments exactly and with a compassionate affection. I lived common law for twenty years. He never married me, but I know he was my husband. Love, if any of us really get to drift into the folds of total acceptance and safety is to be cherished. Thank you.

I suspected that was coming. Really like the way you utilized the characteristics of both age groups to present this. The safety and gentleness that the boy found in Elizabeth and Bella; and the innocence in one too young to have developed any bias's or prejudices. That combination produced an environment where the relationship was as natural as any other.

My point in using an aged gay couple, as you understand, is to remove the sexual visions many people apply to finding out a couple is homosexual. Love is precious and sacred, wherever it is found.

Thanks for the stars. Yes, I know you understood every step towards the conclusion.

This is one story that really stays with you. Timmy makes an engaging character, a young man who'd enjoyed visiting with the elderly spinsters. The two women had been allowed to lead their lives, no questions asked. Tommy gets curious, asking why they never married, although it seems that in their hearts they were. The pictures of the women when they were young and Elizabeth's gift of the locket to Timmy are touching. Definitely a 6'er. judi

Cool phrasing and dialogue with Timmy. "Sometimes they sleep more. getting ready for eternal rest." For me, I will be able to rest when I die. Believable dialogue and plot. When it comes to writing you are a Realist like me. Chow.
Stan

p.s good luck.

Okay, I will read it. I've running on empty and need my power nap. Should I rest before I look at it?

This was a very sweet story. I like how the little boy listened to the stories and thought of the older woman as his friend. I think the vow between the women went over his head. But he seemed to get the message of love continuing over time. nicely done.

I'm pretty certain that the meaning between Bella and Elizabeth was not meant to make the child grasp more information other than the promise of eternal love. Thanks for reading.

This was such a beautiful well-told story, Spiritual Echo. Loved the way it was so natural feeling. Great narration and dialogue.

Do you think that your high rank, acomplishments and extraordinary talent give you the right to make a 33 year adult weep on a train in midday? Let me tell you one thing and may it be a final lesson to you!
It does! Do this as much as you can or else you shall suffer my wrath!
Pardon my poor English, but you kinda rocked me. My fault, should have been a fan long ago. I'll catch up anyway.

You're funny. You made me laugh. What are the fines for weeping on a train in midday? Are there off-hours with reduced penalties? I should understand the consequences if I am to be held liable to the reactions. Please forward complete schedule a I am known to also post essays and stories that may send you into a rage and am more than willing to accommodate the rules of your preferred commuter servicer.

thanks so much for the glowing stars and kind review. Love, if we are lucky enough to experience it in our lifetime can't be quantified, measured or catalogued to suit society's sensibilities. Thanks for reading and making me laugh.

Anything is permitted to immigrants, including hard work and low wages.Your penalty would be reviewing me.That is hard enough...

Can you handle real help and honest advice? I can only help with prose. I am not a poet.
reply by comanalbert on 29-Jan-2014
I've never wrote a verse in my life. I am an immigrant, I can even deal with myself. If you are brave enough, read the third chapter of "States of mind", dedicated to Margaret Snowdon.

I prefer an honest four star than a five with a four review. It shows me where I am.

PS. Some typos have been noticed but I hadn't had the time to correct them.
    Thanks.

Sweet story. So the old spinsters were lesbians. This is an up-to-date story for sure. Such stories have been done, but never quite like this. Nice twist. :)

Excellent. I did guess the score with these two ladies - maybe because there was a similar pair who lived together i the village where I grew up. Everyone'knew', but nobody really said anything.

They were a curious pair - a little eccentric. Reading this story brought them to mind.

Love the approach. It's about as far away from cliche Valentine as you can get. Bravo.

A few things for your consideration:

Timmy shook his head and waved off his friend. He liked stopping off and sitting with Miss Simpson. - an echo of 'off'. He liked to spend time with Miss Simpson ?

- falling asleep in the middle of a sentence. - Some people have that effect on me.
and the dandelions were turning into wishes, all feather-like. - THAT is just LOVELY!!!

"Not yet, but soon, dear boy and you need to prepare for that. Your friend, Miss Simpson, may not live long enough to tell you all her stories."

"Timmy, son, listen to me," his father said over dinner. Timmy's mother noticed him moping when he got home from school. She'd pried the story out of him and held him when he sobbed, but his mood had not improved. "Maybe you should spend less time with those two spinsters and more time playing with your friends in the park," his father said. - you said 'his father said' at the beginning of the para. You could lose this second one if you like. :D

Loved it.

I wonder how many 'old maids' were actually gay couples. This story started in my head with the word spinster and grew around it. Thank you. Already made the changes.
