Writing is therapeutic as you have indicated. Many of us have used that as a recourse to strengthen ourselves.
You have written a great tribute and expressed everything from your heart. Well done... John

There is much food for thought throughout this lovely essay, and it has a perfect ending - yes indeed, we shouldn't need an excuse to spread a little kindness. Nicely done! (It's a pleasure to have met you too. :)

Hi Ingrid...-smile- I don't know the lady very well...I think I read a story once....I know from all the love she's received here....she was not missing my notice. What ...um....makes me feel...good...safer...ahh hopeful in all of us....is that their were many here who did notice and care.....of all the complaints...um...finger pointing at problems with this site....some of the people here I've met I will hold close forever. Anyway.....very good to see this....love you Michael

You keep showering me with these gorgeous stars, for which I do thank you. There are a few folks on here that believe they gave this lady a pass and ALOED he to take first---how's that for sour grapes? It's funny, there are so many hidden stories here. Perfect example is Ed Baldwin who simply stopped posting on FS and disabled half his work and you'll never guess why? Matthew who finished in 4th or 5th desperately wanted to get a trophy, so Ed just made it easy for him to get one.

In this blurb on Miss E's b/day, I hoped to remind people of the spirit that drove them to comment. Hell, Michael, if any of a number of us croaked and FS was notified, I'm sure there would be an equal surge, nut can we care when it's not so public and not so fashionable?

Anyway, I DO care about what's happening to you. Any new ladies on your horizon, are you working, out of your very deep sorrow?

God bless that man...Ed...what a great thing to do.....yea, that makes me smile. yea well, there will always be them who....ahh just don't get it...-wink- their own actions expose them as selfish. Thank you beautiful lady....yea, its been rough....yes, working.....no same lady....-smile- ....yes, I'm better....not on medication or anything anymore....ahhh -headshake- I still don't sleep well...still wish I would have done things a lil' different...no I'm not. love-

Awesome Ingrid. I sent her private message myself and wished her a happy birthday. I also sent her a rough poem. Eighty-seven? I wonder if I hit that mark will I even understand I'm alive, let alone be able to write. When I was nineteen I met a man at a nursing home who was 93. He shared with that he always wanted to be a writer. One night I'm walking down the hall and heard him banging on the keys of an old manual. Tragically a few months letter he slipped on ice and broke his hip, after that he was never the same. But it was a time and moment in my life I will never forget.

Maybe my wrap-up here brought that memory back, but you should store it in the front of your filing cabinet. I know there are times when you get discouraged (and you know how I feel about your abilities and the tremendous potential of Snowbird) and when you do, remember, this old man didn't sit down to write a best seller. He wanted and needed to write. Thank God, you didn't wait that long to let the characters in your dreams come out to play. hugs.

That's a good thought. He must have been the ghost that haunted me not to wait until it was too late. I see your giving Lee a run for his money, eh.

You are such a wonderful catalyst for this community of writers. You have captured many truths in this piece and have made us, the "newbies", understand the cohesive group who share their souls, so we all can be a little lighter and move forward. Thank you and Happy Birthday to dear Evelyn.

Well, if you are a newbie, then welcome. As you navigate through this site and meet new members there's only one thing I'd like to offer as advice. Write and write often. Regardless of your writing ability at this moment in time, I promise you that is a few months the level of improvement and support you'll get will astound you and you will continue to improve and have your voice heard. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the advice; I have been writing like crazy and you and others have been extremely kind and helpful. I had never been a poet before, only a short story/memoir writer, but I am finding that entering the poems in a contest is rewarding and thought provoking. I have already created two contests, one was very well received and the other deadline is in about three days. By the way, I voted for your "Purgatory" story. You are an accomplished writer.

I appreciate the vote very much. You've got the right spirit, just jump right in and make it your home.

Thank you for this message. Evelyn deserves a happy birth day. This is a special day to her and many Fanstorians. I have not missed the point, though; I have noted that you are also a victim of domestic and sexual abuse. I may not know the best way to comment on that but please allow me to say this; "May God richly bless you!" That is coming from the bottom of my heart. I hate men who abuse ladies. In a small way I traditionally and spiritually counsel families in my community. Once again, I wish you the best in life. Kindly check this sentence; some more (tagic) and heroic than ... (tragic)

It was a very, very long time ago and the wound is not fresh, nor is it painful to look at the scars, but the abuse of power does form the core of a victim and some opportunities will never be approached and pass by.

Thank you. I accept and appreciate the blessings you sen my day. This should be a spectacular day for Miss E.

For a week, we were better people, kinder and selfless. Yes, Evelyn's personality and story brought out the best in us. I know I always read her posts first when faced with many choices. one SPAG-- tagic instead of tragic.
Writing is excellent therapy as you point out. I suspect Evie came from heaven to warn young girls how difficult it can be to change bad circumstances.

Nice story and a lovely tribute. Well constructed story. If this were expanded it could be made into a short story at the very least. Don

Ingrid, this is superb. You are so right that abuse is like war, for the scars last for years. I too have read of others, like yourself and Evelyn, who have used writing as therapy, sharing their tragic stories. I'm sure it helps the author as well as those who read and learn from the tales of horror... a warning, for sure.

Some times people start writing for therapy while still stuck in the situation and find through feedback and other stories, the strength to change something that will free them from their misery.
