This was music to the ears of yours truly, a closet hypochondriac, out-right germ-a-phobe, and fan of hyperbole! I also appreciate clever, unexpected rhymes. From what I've seen, you should win the quatrain contest (yours is by far better than mine, away! Ha!)... Thank you for your post! It's brilliant! Happy New Year! And stay healthy! Steph

Thanks, Steph - I'll take my little orange pill like a good boy and hopefully avoid another visit to the doctor for a further 10 years, but he's got me now because I'll have to go back to get repeat prescriptions....

And don't conced defeat in the contest either - I don't believe this will win it - not the right style.

I don't think my entry is the right style, either... It has a rhyme scheme, but it is a "rap" about wrapping. Lol! When faced with a challenge, I find myself stretching the limits as far as I conceivably can (my way of not selling out, I guess), regardless of knowing that it is not consistent with the mainstream's sensibilities. We poets need to stay true to ourselves, first and foremost, I say. Somebody, someday will appreciate it! :) Cheers! Steph

Your delightful poems are always entertaining.
This one is especially witty and great fun to
read.
Clever end rhymes and internal rhymes add to the
fun.
Best of luck in the contest.

As usual, a splendidly humorous canter! I share your trepidation whenever I visit the clinic. It is almost as full of the pale and wan as all health food shops seem to be. Ignorance is bliss, I say - although I had a rather similar visit revealing a hidden heart problem for which I now take pills. I thought the racing palpitations were caused by all the lovely ladies passing by! My favourite line of all was, "There's petulance and flatulence and verbal diarrhoea"! I also greatly appreciated the internal rhyme in "I took a seat with terror for I mingled with bacteria;" A thoroughly entertaining way to greet this Monday morning!

Glad I softened the Monday morning blues for you.

The internal rhyme you mention was more fortuitous than skilful, but I'll take the applause...

Hello. Thanks for the fun poem and the notes on the bottom. I don't go to Docs because there are too many sick people there...and I can't go when I'm sick because I wouldn't want any one to see me.
But, I do go for my Yearly, because it saves lives...
Thanks again,
May you be well.

Oh, God, this was very relatable considering I tend to be a germophobic. I thoroughly enjoyed this well written romp - a lot of effort went into it. The stanzas were hilarious and the rhymes spot on. Definitely worthy of the sixer. Hugs, Lou

Good use of the aabb rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good perfect rhyming with post/most...nagging/wagging...joked/poked...marrow/barrow. Good description and alliteration. Good complimentary photo followed by a clear message that has humor.

This is so clever and funny I just wish I could award a six. The meter could be better but you had a very good excuse. I believe this is truly outstanding and I wish you best of luck in the contest. Nancy

This was clever, funny and your challenge in the AN inviting. How about:

The sphygmomanometer was in fact truly quit appalling
It grabbed my arm with such a force a weaker man'd be bawling

Just having fun with you. A truly great comic verse. Well scripted and with an even flow. Thank you for sharing Enjoyable. Robin :)
