this is very well written, mystery writer, yes some love stories present dracula as the ultimate lover. my neck is very sensitive so he would have a hard time with me. good luck in the contest

Thank you, Sweetwoodjax. I appreciate the encouraging review. Yes, that old count is sometimes shown as a romantic lover and sometimes as the worst villain ever. I'm with you, I never want to meet him.

You did a wonderful job with the challenge that you chose.
the descriptive words worked very well. the flow was smooth. The count was correct.

There was no SPAG. No room for improvement.

I wish you the best in the contest.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

I think I'd scream... no wait! Maybe dream... hard to say! Are we talking about the Gary Oldman version (SCREAM!) or the Frank Langella version (dream... maybe...) Of course, if it was Klaus Kinski's portrayal... well, that's just a 'drop-dead-of-fright' event!

Loved the humour in this, well done!

I guess it does depend on which version of the Dracula movies you see. Sometimes he is romantic and sometimes downright terrifying. I am so happy that you enjoyed the humor in this post, Pipersfancy. Thank you for an enjoyable review.

This is a good take on the theme. You set up the theme with two solid scene setting lines - complete with a bit of well known vampiric banter, and then suck us all in with the dichotomous finish in the last line. Good structure- good response to prompt!

Night's cursed undead king
says, "I vant to bite your neck"
Ooo...to scream...or dream...

have you used "vant" deliberately or should it be WANT?
Perfect syllable count and compellingly paired picture and poem. all the best in the contest

Thank you for your best wishes and encouraging review in the presentation and structure of the poem, emrpoems.

I did use "vant" on purpose in place of want. It's a takeoff on the way movie actors try to play the Romanian speech of Count Dracula, often replacing the "w" with a "v".

Thanks again for a great review.

The picture and words match well. The middle line recalls all vampire movies. Do you dream of being immortal. I don't know if I would want to be immortal by having to prey on other human beings.

Thank you for the encouraging review, dragonpoet. I'm so glad you enjoyed reading it.
No, don't think I've ever contemplated being immortal. May not be all that it's cracked up to be. Certainly would be easy to procrastinate if you can always put off doing things for a year, or decade, or century. I agree with you, certainly not worth it if it requires preying on other people.

You're welcome. We already procrastinate too much. We don't need another reason to do it. You also have to live through all the wars and pestilence century after century.
