Reading your piece just gave me a spooky, creepy feeling. It is night as I read it and only a small table lamp for light to illuminate. I should have read it during day but can't resist the temptation. it was worth it. The contrast of white fonts on black created the proper atmosphere. Your words are of classical shades and stylish.

Lenore revisited could go both ways : She visited you again and you did it - again. Many times a writer gets so engaged in his writing that afterimages persist.

Inspiration's where you find it. Sorry to hear that you're having nightmares and such... what we read (and more so what we write ; ) does have a way of insinuating itself into our subconscious dreams.

Yes, and studying Poe's intricate work at ten PM does not help the situation, either. I don't believe I'll be doing that again any time soon.

Thanks for the review, Cry, much appreciated!

I love your writing. your use of language is 16th century like Shakespeare and I believe that because of your reading it has become natural to you. Have you published any poems as yet.
your poem even thought you use eloquent language is easy to read and understand unlike others that you get the feeling that words are being put together with the hope that it would eventually mean something.
Keep on writing

Thanks, emrpoems, I truly appreciate the glowing compliment. I have published poetry, in magazines. I recently had one accepted in Blood Moon Rising magazine, and another in Dark Futures magazine, and HXC magazine, a rock and roll fanzine, all of which can be found online.

hello,Dean,
thank you so much for reminding me one of my favorite poem "The Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe.ihad read it ages back during my student days and i still haven't forgotten the eerie atmosphere and the grim Raven sitting so nonchalantly on the bust of Pallas saying 'nevermore'.your poem is wonderful .it has created the nightmarish atmosphere so well.yes i know what the word is .the black shrivelled rose sent a shiver up my spine .usage of 'yon, nary' words have brought an old world feeling.congratulations and thanks for posting.

this is very well written, dean, you did an excellent job writing this quatrain poem about the one that came to play but you didn't want her to stay so she went away but left her name behind.

Impressive! Poe is one of my favorite authors. You did an excellent job of immitating his style. I believe in messages that arrive in dreams. The pictures you used are excellent, and really add to it. Keep up the good work.--Okiedokie

I felt you captured the essence of Poe. I am a great fan of his and now will be one of yours. It was almost as if I were reading his works, with a fresh feel to the words. Very nicely done!

With or without the add ended author's notes, I found this eerily unsettling! For the crow to come back and caw again (no matter how low) ....

You expertly kept Poe's tone and ambiance in tact, and made me believe this could easily have been written as a sequel!

The desiccated black rose was the perfect touch!

Very nice work!!!!

'~L.... Revisited~' is an extremely well-written and more than a little hair-raising piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review.
