This is a beautiful poem. The imagery is very vivid and you have certainly brought out the beauty and the hope that the setting and rising of the sun can bring to our world and existence.
Good job.

Lovely poem of life and afterlife. Faith keeps one going in old age. It's a hard time of life, falling apart, breaking down gradually or suddenly. Not much hope in old age, except for what lies beyond the sunset. Do you know that song? Jo Stafford recorded it when I was a kid. Beautiful song.

Error in line one:

it's = it is
its = belongs to it

It's too bad that my dog chewed up its ball.

    Thank you Phyllis. I really appreciate the review and thank you for getting the spiritual side that I alluded to. Yes, I love the song. I really liked Jo Stafford too, but I didn't remember her recording that one.

    It was on an album she did with Gordon McCrae. They also did Whispering Hope, another that I like.

Well written and with such lovely sentiments about life and the amazing technicolour of a beautiful sunset.
So much of our lives has been compared to the rising and setting of the sun and your lovely comparison speaks volumes.
A lovely free verse expression and a great picture choice.

I loved the theme of this free verse, and enjoyed the style... the emphasis on the last word of each stanza. The description last burst of light at the brink of sunset--the grande finale--was a nice touch. Great visual. Here in the desert we often get a few fleeting moments of peachy-pink light, bathing the landscape and giving the mountains in the distance a glow: a dramatic and beautiful end to the day

Your second stanza made me think of a poster I saw in a Doctor's office once: the sun setting is no less beautiful than the sun rising. The artwork was an aging face, full of character.

This was a lovely piece to read. Very well done. Very soothingly actually.

    Thank you so much for the review and the nice comments. I don't know where you live in the desert but when I was out West near Arizona and New Mexico I was very impressed with the beauty of the sunsets. They seem different from those in the East where we have more humidity.

Hi, Beth. What a beautiful entry this is for the contest or any other time. I especially liked your last two lines and these:

"And bathes the earth in color
One last grand finale
Just before the curtain
Closes"

Bravo! Good Luck...Bob

The picture portrays very well your thought in the poem.
You present a true picture of a new day each morning and
the setting sun, as also our lives begin and end. Thanks for sharing.
