Such a new brilliant touch on the humpty story. I enjoyed every part of the story hard to pick out but if I will it would be this part, Expensive tastes left her in debt.
Gold was something she had to get.
Hatching an evil and murderous plan,
She required the help of a single man.

An amusing and clever fairy tale. Ten good stanzas in 8/8/10/10 syllable counts. I recognised all the fairy tale characters except Scarlett - I could only think of Scarlett O'Hara from Gone with the Wind - she was greedy for gold! I enjoyed it all and can't single out one particular stanza - they are all very good. Regards Dorothy

Thank you for the excellent review, Dorothy. I appreciate the gracious comments and generous stars.
Miss Scarlett and Colonel Mustard are actually characters in a classic board game called Clue. The object of the game is to guess which suspect committed the murder of Mr. Body, which weapon was used and in which room of the house. But I like your version with Scarlett O'Hara too.

Humpty's Gold Heart is a nicely written fairy tale about Humpty Dumpty. The poem is written with a good imagination in intricate detail. It is nicely presented and the picture complements the poem.

An allusion to the well-known childhood rhymes.
"Humpty Dumpty there on the wall,
Humpty's not what he seems at all.
With his grin so wide and his arms and legs
He's son of the goose who lays golden eggs. "
A very good rhyme scheme that goes well with the flow.
One's greed could be a poison to others.
God bless

I love the incorporation of Clue into this delightful poem. And the last verse is so delightfully horrifying. Even though Humpty is but an egg.

My goodness, Deb. You are one heck of a writer, aren't you? I love this little poem. Especially the great ending stanza: "Not even Mother Goose can tell
That Humpty is an empty shell.
And all Mustard got for his greed and pain
Was a few deviled eggs and quiche Lorraine"

Do you write children's books or poems?

Bravo! Bob

Wow. Thank you so much for the six stars! And for the compliments.
I have written since I was child, but it has only been the last year or so that I've actually shared my writing. So far it's quite eclectic. I have two YA vampire novels that I've shared with a few friends and they've shared with a few people I don't know and I've had people offer to pay me for a copy. I'm not quite ready yet, but building confidence and starting to explore the possibility of publishing. I want to learn a bit more about the business first. For now, I just write because I enjoy it.

What a fun and wicked poem. I liked the merger of Clue and the Nursery Rhyme. The imagery was wonderful with the white gore and the yellow yolk. Nice tongue in cheek emotion. Nicely done. I enjoyed.

So you can actually put Humpty together again? Hehehe I thought so. This write is really something else and answers all those sticky little questions. Poor Mustard.

Yes, if you have Mustard plaster then you can put Humpty together again, but you have to know the right recipe, and be willing to eat a lot of eggs....

    Thanks for sharing a laugh.
