Bravo! Such a contemporary write inspired by an age old tale. I congratulate you. This poem is exceptional. To configure multiple tales and rhymes into one. Well done. Jacqueline

solid rhyming couplets
good alliteration in greed grew and shattered the shell
I'm laughing as you introduce the characters from Clue into the story of Humpty :-)
very funny description of his egg-white gore LOL
good use of enjambment throughout to keep the story flowing from line to line
all the King's horses and all the kings men - King's men
A fantastically funny ending :-) Very clever! Brooke :-)

I appreciate the edit comments. I can't believe I missed something so simple. If anyone else noticed it, they didn't comment on it. I appreciate you taking the time to mention it so I can correct it.

OMG! This is brilliant. Putting a nursery rhyme together with a popular child's game, Clue, and the story about the goose who lay golden eggs (Jack in the Beanstalk, if memory serves me.) Love the smart way Mustard put Humpty back together again and sat him on the wall. Great ending with the eggs and quiche. What a fun read. Glad you reviewed me so I could hook on to this.

Haha! This is a wonderful new version of an old boring fairytale. I always wondered what made old Humpty fall off the wall. And what is an egg doing sitting on a wall anyway. Loved this one.

Very cute! I just wrote a long one also about Nursery Rhymes with Mr. Humpty Dumpty and friends. Your verse rhymed well. A story verse at that. Good flow of words. I liked it. Thank you for sharing.

You've an amamzing sense of humour. I love this version of Humpty Dumpty, with a little Clue thrown in! You've set up a nice little plot, a compelling motive, and provided the perfect cover up, all laced with humour. Well done, my friend!

Lovely! On a par with Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes! By a remarkable coincidence I recently wrote a short poem relating another story about unfortunate Dumpty! It started off: Empty Dumbty sat on the fence
With a great big grin.
He was so dense.
Nothing to compare with your, of course. In fact I filed it away having given it my own personal rejection slip before anyone else did!
I loved your last line! Splendid! Best wishes, Tony

Oh, Tony, I'm very flattered by the six stars and your comments! Please don't file your poem away. I would love to read it when you're ready to show it. Just because we pick similar themes doesn't mean a thing. There are many love poems and faith poems that say nearly the same thing, but everyone brings their own personal touch to their work and it reaches others in a variety of ways.

Fact is, I went to check out your works and I have already reviewed all you have. Please post more.

Thanks again for the generous stars and very gracious comments.

This was a delightful poem that told a story about humpty dumpty. Written in the quatrain style with good rhythm and rhyming throughout the poem.
