Raising kids had it's good moments and lots of bad ones, but I wouldn't take any of them away....even the painful ones. I look at mothers nowadays and wonder how we did it without all the "extras" they have today.

Smiles, Carol

Thank you Carol. It was like an adventure. I'm not involved with making decision about kids any more, but I think you are still facing more than you share of challenges.

I really wonder how you managed such difficult multi-tasking responsibilities. Raising children and instilling good ethical, mental, personal and physical attitudes in children is necessary. This selfless, unconditional love and nurturing are what turns a bud into a blossoming flower. Much enjoyed your lovely story. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the review. This is one of the chapter the prologue you read is for. Like I said the stories can stand alone.

Oh dear, Beth, you didn't have an easy time of it did you? I can see how difficult it could be to work with three children, especially when you could be contacted all the time.
I had to laugh about little Don when he received an 'reward for being retarded' wonderful writing. Ulla:)))

Thank you, Ulla. It wasn't always easy but the kids were fun when they weren't driving us nuts. They've given me memories that have lasted all these years.

Oh my goodness! It's like you were working four jobs at once! Yes, working while having children is really hard - especially if they keep calling you. I'm glad you saved up some moments of hilarity in the middle of it all. Poor Carol - you know it's an emergency in her case. She wouldn't call you otherwise! Hope her nose recovered well.

Thank you Helen, She didn't do any permanent damage but she really got a painful lick. The tree didn't give a inch. LOL

A "reward" for being "retarded"--this had me howling--Chuck got a big chuckle when I caught my breath and was able to tell him what was so funny. Priceless!

Only a point. If you do the work then you get the pay. No matter male or female. I have worked both and understand. Even the boss has to leave on family matters. Good one, Beth.

Thank you for the review and comments. I hope that is more the way people of today see it, but in sixties that way of thinking was very much the norm in the South.

Daze sums it up perfectly, Beth. You did a great job with all the info included. You kids really got into school in opposite ways--Don--gotta love him, and Carol, what a sweetie. The picture in their costumes is adorable--great job with the bygone look.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Yes, it is the women to have to leave work, attend school functions, wipe snotty noses, or whatever else the children might need. Because for some reason, men's job are consider too important to interrupt. Hogwash! Men should be as responsible for the children's day to day needs as much as the women. Okay, that I was a wasted rant. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

LOL I might have taken you seriously if you hadn't already told me you sent your wife on vacations with the kids so you didn't have to deal with all the hassle. Thanks for the review.

I am very serious, but I'm a man. And if I can get out of dealing with kids. I'll do whatever, even hide in the closet. LOL.

I really liked this story. It made me laugh out loud. Kids really do say the darnedest things. I'm amazed that you could put together those cute costumes on such short notice, too. One of the things I like about your stories is that they stand alone so if you happen to miss one, you can still read, understand and enjoy the next one. Well done.
