This is a beautiful tribute to all the lives lost in the horror. To think of each person remembered as a flower and collectively blooming in a field is incredible. The line that exemplifies this for me is, " That dares grow from this unholy ground."

Excellent writing and I hope you feel as a lot of us do ..and I believe you do or you would not have written as you have. Then world particularly the area where this is set and also some -political groups would rather we forget Auswchwitz and all the other death camps never existed. It is good that you have done this to help keep the memory alive.

Thank you. Indeed, I find it shocking that anyone would even whisper in the dark by themselves that it never existed let alone offer it as an agenda. But, they will always have us to reckon with. Your words and thoughts appreciated as always.

This is well written and it is a great tribute to those who died that horrible death and for the horific reasons that they died.

a field of wildflowers riotous in color - I just love the visuals I'm imagining and the celebratory mood you've created
I really like the no regret...passage/listing
great contrast between the beauty of the flowers and the graveyard setting
Wonderful commentary on how life goes on in using Auschwitz as the setting for this scene of amazing beauty and life :-) Brooke

Each tortured soul
With its very own floral headstone

- I think this is a wonderful, beautiful image

Although I have travelled to Germany, I have never been to see the memorial sites where death camps once stood. I would go, if ever I had the chance again, and I have imagined what it might feel like to walk through those gates - to walk on that land. I would have to gently disagree... I believe that the ground there is very holy - I have no doubt Spirit cried tears of sorrow and love for each precious soul lost to human atrocity.

This is a vivid and thought provoking poem, with the sense of anger at the injustice you capture.

Thank you for sharing,

PF

Wow, what a powerful poem. such a contradiction to have the beautiful flowers growing to cover those destroyed by hate and evil.
This is heartbreaking:
Each tortured soul
With its very own floral headstone
There are no tears here
Where tears should be

I'm sorry I have no sixes left this late in the week, I hope you'll accept a virtual six on this one, it's really tremendous.

thank you so much. high praise. I squandered my sixes right away as I wasn't even aware of what they were at first. think I managed to get one to you though.

Yes, it would seem strange and ironic for beautiful wildflowers to grow on such an unholy ground of hatred. As if flowers can decorate a tortured soul - you have a good use of irony in this theme.
This repetition of no was effective: no regret, no sorrow, no guilt, no indignation. We do seem to hide the pain, by not acknowledging it is there.
The way that you arranged this added to the appeal.
Excellent.

This actually reminds me of a poem by John McCrae (In Flanders Fields) in terms of concept. I like the arrangement of the lines, particularly at the beginning of the poem.
The line "mass and massive" sounds wonderful, which contrasts strikingly with your subject.
Personally, I feel that the four lines beginning with "No" are a bit redundant. They don't seem to add anything to the piece when I read through, though this is of course just an opinion.

thank you. very thoughtful and helpful. In Flanders Fields is one of my favorites so, humbled to even be mentioned in the same breath. I have a tendency to not return to a work and really work it out. I just write the next one. this reminds me clearly how I have to finish what I start and perfect it. thanks again.
