I longed for homeownership around the time I was pregnant. I had a terrible miscarriage after falling on the ice, and it was shortly after I got pregnant again when we moved into our first home. I had a lot of fun fixing up our nursery and waiting with great anticipation. We lived in upstate New York at the time and I remember thinking I never wanted to leave. We did, but we learned the great values of homeownership and how to manage our home and the payments.

Thank you so much Sally. It does sound like we have some things in common. Miscarriages are hard too. I did have that happen but I have a lot of friends who did. I was lucky I was young and able to have more children.

Thank you for the review and comments on the story. I dread posting the next one because it impossible to get any form of humor into that time of my life. I've been busy with other things and haven't had time to add to my other story so I'll go ahead and renew that one. I'll send some wedding picture to your facebook site soon.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. The weimaraner dog is German breed of hunting dog. It is fairly large with floppy ears and a distinctive gray color. It is a fairly rare breed from the 19 century. How my dog ended up looking like one is beyond because I sure no one in the country owed one. Look it up. There are picture on the net.

Thank you for the review and comments. I rewrote a slightly didn't version of story last year after my husband died. That may be why in sounds familiar. Prices were quite different in 1961 plus prices in the south weren't nearly as high as other areas. This was Mississippi.

Hi Beth, I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I used to watch some fix it up show that featured homes in Mississippi. Some of them are so beautiful and you can get so much for the money, but I'm afraid the heat and bugs would be more than I can handle. I love the south though, the people are so warm. I drank many a gallon of sweet tea when I was in Charleston.

Thank you, Laural. Yes, those days did feel like we were having a bit of the American dream. Because of his color, we named the dog, Dusty. The baby's name was Susan Renee.
