There but for the grace of God, go I...literally. I was stalked, kidnapped, raped by a disgruntle boyfriend years ago. That poor victim. It's so gracious of you to try and capture this so true happen of today. The writing was truly heart-felt.

A wonderful poem written in aabb style, about a subject that needs to highlighted more often, domestic violence is a horrible crime with lives devastated and destroyed and eventually ended in the way most can predict and yet do nothing.
All the while, denying help

Thank you Mary. I do feel domestic violence is getting much more attention these days. I wish it didn't come at the expense of others pain and, as in this case, loss of life. Unfortunately, many refuse the help being offered. But it's worth doing because there are many more who are accepting the help. Thank you for your generous review and for your encouragement. It's greatly appreciated

Thank you Maureen. I too felt stunned that day even though I'd feared it would come. As a survivor I know there are many who leave and that encourages me to move forward. What a horrible thing to know. Such a violent situation is that especially when you knew was going to come, just terrible. Your poem reflects such an act. Like when you write "Such a horrid loss, pain, distress; The ugly truth could not confess" and you following short "to silence all the darkness knows"exactly what you write in your author's notes. Just in a poetic way. It is very well penned an easy to read. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful piece, to bad it has terrible overtones. You have a good one in God bless.
