Well...you know if it pertains to horror, I am going to be all over it! That being said, I liked this right from the very beginning, what with the 'gelatinous goo', and all.

The poetic prose you chose; ie, the WORDS you utilized, made this chilling, terrifying little tid-bit a pleasure to read. The alliteration was nicely done too, with 'stinking' & 'thinking', 'shrinking' & 'sinking', among others.

The last stanza was great, as the murdered/conjurer goes off, in search of another unwilling victim, and leaves the old one rotting and sinking in the swamp.

What more could any aficionado of horror ask for?

From the first line I was horrified by reading this poem. The rhymes worked well and carried the poem along. It got more terrifying as I read and more gross. But the poem did not just rely on grossness to scare. The actual actions of the Wizard were scary especially using a cranial probe to see what the subject is thinking.
