Wow, I love it. Jesus said : " If you are not coming back like children you won't enter his kingdom skies ". Really it's beyond lovely when you see a child pray, his face, and his eyes closed, and his hands,... I will never trade this precious moment ....

This is a really cute poem. When I was expecting my second child, my sone told me that he would rather have a puppy dog than a baby. I can identify with this kids request.

Very cute poem. It flowed and rhymed very well and was completely readable. Favorite line: "Do you think we could exchange him?
If you can't a dog will do." Very funny and creative. Good job and luck with the contest.

Thanks so much for the review and comments. My son had a twin sister and an older sister. When I went to the hospital to have another baby, he wanted it to be a brother. Instead I had another girl. He told me to ask the doctor to go look again and see if there wasn't a boy in there he'd missed.

How adorable. You definitely have my vote for this contest.
I didn't want a baby one.
All he does is cry all day.
I wanted one who's just my size,
one who's big enough to play
I suspect a child would think this way. The boy has legitimate complaints: mommy likes his more than me, the trouble he causes with poo.
Exchange him for a dog--LOL.
I bet you could sell this poem to a children's magazine .

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I think this would have been my attitude if my mom had had a new baby. Don't forget to vote tomorrow. I'm so glad you liked it.

I loved it. This poem flowed smoothly and I could feel the child's emotion. The rhyming scheme is very good. Good luck with the contest.

Thank you so much Rose for all the review stars. I remember myself as a child. I used to scribble letters to God. (I was too young to know how to write but I figured God would know what I wanted) I was an only child and I wanted a sister or brother. Then one day when I woke up Mom had taken someone's baby to keep for the day. I was horrified. I thought God had given us a baby. Not what I wanted at all. LOL

This picture is priceless! However did they manage to get the baby to strike such a grown-up pose?
This poe had me cracking up with laughter as I'm sure many an older sibling has sent this exact prayer up to heaven.

Dear Beth
From the mouths of babes. You have captured the true essence of the contest prompt. The presentation is gorgeous with that image such a delight and embellishment for your poem.
Excellent rhyme and meter. Such fun to read. I've enjoyed this so much and expect it to be a high contender for the win in the contest. Your crisp sounds from your use of consonance and assonance create lovely harmony throughout.
"Do you think we could exchange him?
If you can't a dog will do.
Maybe someone else would like him,
if they don't mind cleaning poo." - absolutely hysterical.
Good luck in the contest. Warm Regards - Lovi xoxoxoxo
