Yes it is. Very nice poem that captures the moment of a child having a great time with making circles in the night with sparklers.

Miss Evelyn is in the hospital with a broken hip and no computer so we are tag teaming this morning. We were never much into firecrackers but we did like those sparklers for sure. great little poem that brings back fun memories. God loves you and we do too.

Thank you for the review. Sorry to hear about her accident. I pray for her full recovery.

TREISCHEL, you have successfully fulfilled the requirements of the 5-7-5 in syllable count and in the use of original words chosen to express a universal experience in the child's wonderful imagination. :0 Gracieann

Not just a child's delight, I'm sure. I can still remember doing this, both as a child and an adult, and the magic never fades.
Since this is not bound by any "rules" other than the syllable count, I really like the alliteration of "s"s throughout, and the assonance on sparks/dark.
Great job!
Best wishes

Thank you Sally. I really like being unfettered from those restrictive Haiku and Senryu rules that take the beauty out of the poetry.

Me too. Though I am going to have a go at Alvin's beginners' class starting tomorrow, to see what I'm missing. Should be fun!

Dear Gramps,
'Twould appear that you are still savouring the last sparks of July 4th!
And you did create the mood .... again ... with so few words! :)

What a stunning image. And a simple 5-7-5 that captures the joy sparklers bring out in children. There's great motion in the piece, starting with the picture, that just carries through the poem and makes it feel alive.

Wow, what a great photo! After having seen many, MANY! children with sparklers last night, they sure do light up a child's day, don't they?
Perfect syllable count, great message...

Thank you Dean. Children light ulp the world with or without sparklers. We they are they not screaming, demanding little demons, that is.

I have always loved sparklers
your poem is in excellent 5/7/5 form and pairs wonderfully with your delightful photo
great alliteration of soft S words
and pairing of dark delight - a wonderfully upbeat tribute to this time-honored tradition :-) Brooke

spin sparks in the dark
sparkler sends its sulfur glow
happy child's delight
There is nothing like the fun you can have on the 4th of July. Sparklers create magic worlds for kids.
