I particularly like the sweaters/letters rhyme
I know women who are separated from husbands for a variety of reasons who do the things this speaker does like drinking from his mug, wearing his sweater...
a moving poem of love and longing :-) Brooke

    Good morning Brooke,

    You are absolutely right.
This is a poem of "longing and love".
Everything this poet lived for is in that one final sentence of this tiny poem.
As someone much wiser than I once shared with me, god must have needed him more than I did.
He died less than a month after I wrote this poem in the spring of 2009.

I wrote about him in a very happy poem called "rapscallions gifts".
I offer it, not for potential reviews...for your enjoyment.
    It is a celebration poem.

Peace, hugs and lots of smiles,
    Jill

our poem is well defined with specific references to what it would feel like to be at home waiting upon the arrival of a soldier over seas. The loneliness and uncertainty would be enough to drive a person to distraction.

The reader can practically place himself alone side the character in your poem.

Well done, Jill
