This is a well-written bittersweet poem. It vividly conveys the mindset of one whose romantic love once beat strongly, in spite of his messiness. Now--for unstated reason--he's gone, as is the desire for romance.

Very descriptive as it moves along. At first, I agreed another love-filled poem? No you took me into your home and showed me the meaning of your love and your relationship, which seemed more than fly by night. Life and love is real and happens in real things and real ways. Excellent flow.

Some wonderful images here. I was unsure about the use of "thrashes" in the first stanza...
"Your filing system always left much to be desired. Usually, just sticky-notes..."- I laughed, I use sticky notes at school on everything! At home its even worse, napkins and used envelopes...I could connect here.
I liked the distinction between quietness and silence...and you named it, Silence. That gave it even more power.

yes, I pondered over that word, but wanted something to say that such mental turmoil was, to a certain extent, self inflicted. Thought about 'lashes' - I wanted something to reflect the word usage above it ... thx so much for your thoughtful review fh! :)Sharyn

Sticky notes.... Those pesky pieces of multi-colored paper that captures an eye when left on the refrigerator, mirror or door. A little reminder for the milk, or to pick-up the kids or a simple I Love You written on it. One of mans greatest inventions...

Bill, thank you so much for your magic sixer on this one! I actually LOVE free verse, just so long as I can follow it. Like you, I like it to make sense - so I try to write with one continuous 'thought thread'. Hate things that obfuscate. Glad you agree with me!
