WE are given one more chance to debate on our favortie topics with our lost brothers, what would we have wanted to do - let them win this time around. Just listening to their nonsense and keep smiling perhaps. Yes, i would do that for my brother who died last December of cancer.
No matter how well we treated them, we still feel something lacking - that it should have been more, let them have their way, argue less and hug them more.
Now there's a tear in my eye too but happy tears that we shared so much thought yet so far away as well (he resided in another country thousands of miles away then).
Excellent write and well thought of too.
Cheerio, Rithcie.

Well tom, you started it and now we have run out of tissues, sniff. Anyway, it was a good reminder of our brothers. We do missed them, don't we?
    Cheerio, brotherly hug, Ritchie.

This is an interesting form that I feel unqualified to review properly because I am unfamiliar with it. I will venture that I am liking your choice of the echoing repeated line which grounds the reader firmly. This poem is about missing not only a big brother, but also a bit about remembering the years of youth spent together. The ending note of wistfulness that we do not know when our time together will end serves as a poignant reminder to us all to appreciated each other while we can.

What a wonderful tribute to him! I'm sure he knows how you feel. And your continued positive thoughts of him only help him in his souls progression! Great job!

A great reflective piece of poetry, looking back on some old memories and lost loved ones. Well written and a pleasure to read.

Not just a great poem in terms of style, but a great poem in term of loving sentiment. A great tribute to your brother with respect for the differences of opinion that could be fervently shared because of unbreakable love.

Your poem is heartfelt.

A wonderful poem remembering fondly your dear brother. Sometimes it is only through loss that we choose to focus on the good times. Perhaps you argued (as you say) but it's obvious that you love him. This was very touching.

This is such a touching poem remembering your brother. I know how hard it is to lose siblings. Out of six there are only two of us left. We treasure our time together. We talk everyday. We live five hundred miles apart, but we still keep in touch. I can understand how you are feeling I have the same feelings too. Sara

This was an amazing, heartbreaking poem that spoke so much to me - I lost two close friends to ALS.

My heart breaks for you and your brother, Tom.

The rhyme scheme is beautiful and tender.

If you have a moment, will you read my last post, My Friend Harold - and tell me what you think?

Have a blessed day. Sonali

Thank you Sonali. ALS is an insidious disease that traps you in a worthless body as is slowly kills you. Yes, I'll be happy to take a look.

Good use of the form. From your author notes, this is supposed to be remembering your brother but there really is not much of a sense of him. Bring memories specifically of him in the poem. Love the photo as it really shows the passage of time- mine would be a bald profile against a photo of hippy hair.

Thanks Ravenblack. I was the one with hippy hair. My brother was mostly the crewcut type in his early years. The poem was intended to be more about reflection and aging, than specifically about my brother. Those will come.
