Beautiful and touching story. There's a lot of moving themes, about seeing beyond the limitations of human life and the strength to of some to overcome difficult conditions.

This is so heart-wrenching. You told this story so well, I felt I was watching them like a movie. Telling his father that he could see the stars was a wonderful touch. I grew up in the blind community, and know how well they deal with every day life.

Such a sad, poignantly penned story Bill. This really tugged art the heart strings, the narrative progressed nicely, but is one of those were people suffer hardships, and despite incredible hardships, still manage to emerge triumphant and victorious, this is one such. Well done, Bill, I enjoyed it immensely, blessings, Roy

Thank you, Roy. I was looking for a way to extend the meaning beyond the two men. Something what The old man sees and wha5 he asks his son at the end could broaden the scope of the theme.

Aw, Bill, this is such a heart warming story. In my humble opinion, I think it is the best prose that you've written.

I love all the family relationships expressed in this story (the father-son, the brother-brother, and even the mother-sons).

I love the ending sentences. It brings a sense of hope.

Good luck in the contest, Bill.

Oh, Bill, you are such a good writer. This brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful, sad, loving story. The ending was just so tender, Ben would see the stars in his imagination because his dear father had described them so many times. Beautiful, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

How could I not give this story of a devoted son's love for his father anything but the highest of ratings? This was so well written, so poignant and touching, that, I'll admit, I found myself thinking of the love and admiration I have for my own dad as I choked back a tear.

I can't heap enough adequate [raise upon this sttroy, so I won't try to, Just know that it touched me deeply, and resonated in my spirit. For a writer, what more could you ask for?

Bravo, Bill...Bravo.

This was a good story which kept my interest from beginning to end. So sad that in the end the father dies. So kind that the boy told his father he could really see the stars so he would die happy.

Sigh what a great story this one is. You took us from before Benny was born to when Benny's father died, there on that hillside.. They could both see the stars from there.

I loved this! Ned's life was in turmoil. His beloved wife had died and his son was born blind, but yet he never gave up. He did whatever he could to help his son succeed.

I was left with mixed emotions at the end. I was happy that Benny got to see his father one last time, but yet his father was dying and still grieving for his wife. I guess maybe it was a bittersweet ending. Great job!
