You're a man after my own heart with this one. I'm a wreck without my morning pot of jove! That black liquid is truly the nectar of the Gods. Mmmm.
Found this to be very relate-able and a joy to read.

Start with a nice, hot cup of coffee...good on ya, Tom. Sometimes, it's from the simplest of life that we can derive beautiful things such as this - cute poem. Share your marvelous treat with me, will ya? (=^_^=) Cheers

Hi, Treischel,
This is excellent work. It has good rhyme and a good rhyme scheme. It has a good meter. Jove for coffee is new one on me. I am also not worth much until my second cup.

I like especially that I am coffee drunk , I can't concentrate if I couldn't drink this cup of Jove. And if my house finish from it, I will be in great disaster. I know it's not good to be coffee drunk like this way, and I tried a lot to out from this habit, but I didn't reach to anywhere unless the stress and becoming angry. So I kept always 2 boxes in my kitchen roof and in my office too.

Ah - what better smell in the morning - or on a cold afternoon. And then to have the elixir of life running down your throat. I love the poem and the writing - and the vocabulary lesson. Thank you.

I have been wanting to dedicate a poem to coffee also, Tom!
"Marvelous treat"--I echo your statement, as this morning indulgence wakes us up as no other food or beverage can;
Good, descriptive alliteration in "brewed black".
I very much enjoyed your countertop writing!

There is nothing like that first cup of coffee, Treischel,I don't function until I have had at least 2 cups! LOL. Your authors note on 'Jove' being the slang for coffee, it was a well used word used by the 'upper crust' in England, they always used it as a statement, a declaration of doing something different. " By jove, I'll do it!" I haven't heard it for a while and was quite a surprise to read it in your poem, and to read the meaning you have for it. I enjoyed your poem as usual, Treischel, I am trying to keep up! :) xsx Sandra

Loved your little waking up poem, it's funny how it is so different across the pond, they all reach for their cup of tea, thank you for sharing....

i can't tell you how much i love this poem. "marvelous cup of Jove" ( twist on cup of joe). no matter if the coffee is instant or gourmet, all bleary in the morning, it is truly the nectar of the gods ( no exaggeration).
