I laughed then I kind of felt guilty, lol. You are always so faithful with reviewing my poems and I'm always too busy to go through yours or anyone Else's from time to time.

Hi Ms Kris,
this wasn't written to make anyone guilty, especially you.... It was all about a laugh I was having with my wife about how I compared feeling jilted with not being reviewed... Obviously, but I understand how much this site can snow you under at times... I'm there right now... Still trying to catch up. You have been nothing but loyal to me... LOL. And I do appreciate you dropping by... It's just a shame you couldn't get the points and bucks when they were on offer, sorry about that.
Kindest thoughts,
James xx

LOL Yeah, I've been there numerous times, my friend. And on those rare occasions that they eventually call, I tried like hell to sound like I couldn't care one way or the other. It was a difficult balancing act. :)

Hi Edward,
I doubt you would have to many of these people on your books. And I'm still waiting for the call of a couple of my fans. It must be hitting a little close to home. But it was all brought on, just having a laugh about it with my wife, so I tried to transfer it to print. It's all in fun.
Thank you for dropping in and reviewing this one. And seriously I actually do know how busy you must be.
Kindest thoughts,
James

Hi RFTS,
yeah I haven't been jilted, well not in the usual way. It was all just a laugh that started when I was playing the fool with my wife. Here I was saying how I felt cheated, just waiting around for a review from some certain fans. You know the ones that jump on, tell you how good you are and never review you. So I hope you at least it brought a smile to your face. I know my wife Jade, and I had a good chuckle and that's what's important.
Thank you for your wonderful review, it was very appreciated.

Alas, the trauma of a jilted love. This is a great essay idea but switching from "I" to "you' is a ,a major opportunity for improvement. I loved the device of shifting the focus to reviewers on Fanstory, an excellent turn for the story.
Here's an example of what I am nit-picking:
They promised they'd call. Wait a minute, it's ringing. You rush to the phone, with anticipation and glee, thinking this is the moment, it's them. (consider that 'lover' is singular, 'they'/'them' is plural.)

Hi Norbanus,
of course that is very true, but it was just a humorous way to compare the two jilted subjects. Not wanting to use a he or a she to describe the call I just generalized with a 'them', but thank you all the same. It was just a laugh I had with my wife transferred into print, nothing serious.
Thank you for dropping in and reviewing my little dig, it was very appreciated.

This actually was a quite funny read and I imagine there's someone out there you feels this way. Still, learn to love (or to write for) yourself, and stop relying on others to validate your self worth (as a writer, lover or otherwise). Lot of thoughtful stuff in here, but tinged with a good amount of humor. :) I just try to be reciprocal in my reviews and hope others will do the same.

Hi L,
thanks a heap for your response to my humorous attempt. This was actually just transferred from a funny experience I was sharing with my wife about fans not returning reviews. We couldn't stop laughing, as I tend to be a bit of a ham when I receive a good reaction. And even though there is truth in what I wrote, it was all just a bit of fun, not intended to point fingers or anything, just a laugh. It's all just about a bit of mutual respect, don't you think?
So thank you so much for your review, you know you will see my name on your reviews for sure, I enjoy reading your work when I can, that's after I clean my fans out of my in-box of course- smile.
Kindest thoughts,
James xx

An interesting take on the writer/fan relationship. Can't see that a fan is morally required to do anything but read a writer's work. Everyone's under a time crunch, and silence tells a story all its own. When I don't hear, I know I've missed the mark. :) Nancy

Hi Nancy,
thank you for the interesting response in your review, I do appreciate your time and effort. Even though this was something that started off a laugh I was having with my wife, there is truth in what I say. Time crunch and silence from a fan is an excuse, it would be like not responding to this review, because there was something in it that didn't sit well. Not that this is the case with this review, but do you get my drift? Love is a two-way street, so is being a fan, but I'm just loyal that way.
Kindest thoughts,
James xx

We have different views of writing, that's all. To me it's a business. I produce a product. If it's good, my customers (fans) buy, and pay for it in reviews. If it doesn't meet their expectations, it sits on the shelf. Some of my fans have become close personal friends - but even they don't feel obligated to review in public. Just a different POV. :) Nancy

I always respect the right of opinions. It doesn't make anyone wrong, it just makes us different in the way we look at things. Take care.

Well, my dear Jumbo J, you're gettin' a review from me, my friend.
I wonder how many Fanstorians think like this? I know that I do at times. OK, so I write primarily horror fiction, so what? I don't particularly like haiku, or senyru, or any other 'ru for that matter. But I still review the myriad of poetry that comes flowing into my inbox on a daily basis. Why not give ME a shot once in awhile?
Very well said my friend. I don't pass out six-star reviews lightly!

Hi Dean,
I am so honored at your response to my humorous little dig. Yeah there's truth in what I say and it does make you wonder what's wrong with a little mutual respect, not much to ask. Of course I'm not going to like everything I read, but isn't that the idea of the review? But even then I will try and pick out the positives to encourage. So thank you so much for this wonderful review my friend, it is very appreciated.
Kindest thoughts,
James

An excellent analogy is presented in this short non-fiction.
Obviously the ex-lover gets a less than stellar review.
I know the annoying review process on this site is at times
intolerable.
Well written overall.
