This is hilarious. Such an imagination you have to create. I can just picture you filling pails of bath water to water plants, and lawns. That would take some backbreaking work, and then after all that work God opens up the sky with a flood of rain. I loved it! Sararb :)

It reminded me of a great preacher's Sunday sermon. I really enjoyed the language used in this poem. " God looks down/ and with a mighty chuckle..." like your "God the prankster". so much more refreshing than a humorless, stern obey-all-the-commandments-and-brush-your-teeth" scolding parent. I hope we have your problem this year as we had a summer nearly devoid of rain.

Well we get 150" of rain a year here rb - problem is ... sometimes if falls all at once! :)

Very well expressed poem about the desperation of seeing your garden go
due to weather. I still did not learned to trust even the weather reports, the fail miserable very often LOL. Love the style, the way you arrange it ads interest. Love the picture after the reading, felt relived. Hugs. Pili

Well, Sharyn, I gotta give this person credit for being such a positive thinker. Definitely trying to turn lemons into lemonade.
The ending reminded me of something a pastor once said: God has a sense of humor. I'm just glad your character isn't living in the days of the dust bowl. Those poor people trusted for 10 years.

Yes, I saw a film about the dust bowl days Lou - it must have been a nightmare. Same happens in Australia!

A lovely free verse. I think you must live far away from me. But our ground was far to dry as well. Rain came now and colder temperatures with it. I am sure one time you will learn to trust.

A perfect message, When will we learn?
Your poem flows so well and paints a vivid tale of the dry parched summers that we have experienced of late. This year however the summer rains have arrived early.
