A very nice poem, I enjoyed the sorrowful content and how you lightened it with "running out of tissues" and the last line " write something a little more light"
The only place I stumbled was with "there's got to be something's right" it slowed me down like it didn't fit.
All in all a good poem, I enjoyed, well done.

Sad but a good depiction of how it feels to "lose" friends and family as you age.Well rhymed and the rhythm is smooth and even. Good job!

This is an excellent poem. It has rhythm and rhyme. It follows a rhyme scheme. It uses figurative language to institute a sad mood which is lightened in the last verse.
Apparently ABCB is a popular rhyme scheme.

Thanks Preston.yes, abcb is popular because it creates the rhythm with great flexibility. I use it occasionally.

I can absolutely relate to this poem. I loved you wrote about the ones that left or died and we miss now as well. But I agree there has to be something right.

As with life, people come and people go. We just don't know anymore. We will miss those going but there will be new ones coming in.
As with the seasons of the year and all year round - the cycle of things continue until they disappear like the wabi-sabi concept of things.
We looked on helplessly as we cannot do a darn thing about it except to write our stories here and hope they understand the message that we will not forget them.
Excellent write and a well deserved tribute to those leaving in one way or another.
Cheerio, Ritchie.

Thank you Ritchie. Yes, the circle of life goes on.

So true. At least Ritchie is still around slogging at the typewriter and writing God knows what, LOL. Be happy that there are still many of us around to entertain you, Tom, and of course to review too.
Cheerio, and all good things must end in some way. Ritchie.

Such an emotional and sad poem my friend. I get these feelings too. So many friends have either moved away or passed on, plus I lost my mate in 2010, and then my life really changed. The writing is my therapy. I have met a lot of wonderful people on this site too, and you are one at the top of my list! Have a great day. I love your writing! Sara :)

Point well taken and I have noticed that as well. I've only been on here a little over a month and see the trend of what you stated in this well needed poem.

Thank you Nicci. It's the circle of life, I guess. Some go, and new one's come in.

Very well expressed thougts and feelings. very profound, touching and moving words, well chosen.
With an emotional, melancholic and nostagic atmosphere.
This is a very creative piece of poetry well written. Thank you for sharing!

Yet, even with all the tears and gloom,
There's got to be something's right.
I think I'll go find a quiet spot,
And write something a little more light.
Please do Tom and make it float way up there. Those that left here had their own issues to deal with. If you just write, you can't go wrong. Great quatrains by the way.
