beautiful message. modern Shakespearean look at the changing seasons of love. " dolphins danced upon the ocean's glory-blues" - god, I would love to live in Hawaii. keep riding and writing the wildest rainbows.

Which one is yours? We could really use a quality vacation. My wife is a poet too ( better than me ).

They're all on one property - Huelo Pt Lookout - 2 acres, a house and 3 cottages essentially ... your wife, too? lovely! we cater to romantics! Come on over - we'd have a blast! :)))

What a beautiful sonnet. It tickles all 5 senses while painting a totally surreal picture. Not to mention the illustration is perfection. Well done.

HI Sharyn, What a talent you are. Very well written. It's true that are married love lives go through different stages. As we and the kids grow older. And I love the picture you used with this. well said!! Luff Linda xxoo

I love this sonnet for several reasons.
First, the landscape drawn of YOUNG love --so romantic & almost perfect.
Second, that heart-breaking moment when one of the lovers "wakes up" and looks at the other and wonders "What has happened to us?"
Int the world I grew up in there next would come divorce, but your final couplet gives us hope of rediscovery and a happy ending.
Finally, your craftsmanship with meter, rhythm, and rhyme is superb.
A lovely masterpiece. RodG

Well done, I love your explanations in the author's notes. This poem (sonnet) does have the progression of an argument, and leaves your reader with a new image taken from the rest of the poetry. Excellent

Wildest dreams is an excellent thought provoking sonnet Sharyn.
Lovely picture and great imagery.
I've been there and the empty nest did not work so well for me. I really liked your ending better than mine.
Very nicely done.
Blessings
Janet

There's a lot to this little sonnet, not a piece to simply read and move on. There's structure to contemplate; form and function to study, backed up by a pretty deep message. Thank you, gotta go read it again.

Beautiful sonnet! Your descriptions reveal your pain at realizing that life and children may be changed who you are. Now that the children have moved on, can you bring your relationship back to life? We have all been there and your sentiments are real.

A wonderful sonnet girl and one that bases it's origin on love. I like this very much:

But then one day I woke, and looked at you
and wondered who you were, and who was I?
And are we done with love, no longer new?
Our children gone - my doubts I can't deny.

Wow!!!!!! Sharyn, This is a super sonnet about life and living and followed by intense instructions. What more could you do, than win the contest?
It is so beautifully written and covers so many of the bumps and turns in the relatively short lives we have to live. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and hope you can make those last two lines become true. Your admirer, Bob
