Such a beautiful sonnet poem. I enjoyed the descriptive words describing a wonderful life with your family, but time changes things and we have to ajust to the changes, but still enjoying a different time of happiness. More time to focus on each other. You write such beautiful words! Sararb :)

    Dear sweet lady, it's not Bev ... it's Reachingfor-for-the-you-know-what!

I've been called Sharyn too once .... very flattering, considering the literary calibre of both women!

    Hugs,

Sharyn, you had me going in a certain direction with this poem, but then you switched gears and brought the reader back to reality for us to wake up and smell the stale cffee of which was the love lost in a relationship, and how you strive to revive.

Awesome write, sis

Excellent poem, you have captured the essence of growing old. Many fond memories as the body winds down, yet the mind remains strong.

I felt as if I was reading my own personal thoughts about the world around me in my twilight years. True love, based on trust and respect, is a very strong bond that time cannot break.

Well Done

You have described what happens to couples who really have nothing in common but their children. It is sad to see what state they are in when they are faced with the empty nest. Your poem, at least, offered some hope that there may be a happy ending or at least a new beginning. Nicely done.

This lovely, uplifting, bittersweet sonnet effectively conveys the theme that, when youthful passion subsides, a new, mature passion can be awakened and enjoyed.

Hi Sharyn,
you captured a modern day Shakespearean experience with this sonnet. Beautifully written with all the right questions...loved Your twist and you brought it home with a breath of love that made it all just float for me.
I loved your detailed authors notes, Willy would be proud. Good luck for this contest, I'm sure you'll do well.
Kindest thoughts,
James xx

I like the use of the run on lines. This is a wonderful sonnet. I have a feeling it will be a strong contender in the contest.

Very beautiful and thought provoking. It is hard to change our ways once we get in the rut, the kids leave, now what do we have in common, etc. Nice explanation for us that find a sonnet so complicated. Thanks for sharing not only the lovely poem but the poetry lesson as well.

A deep and very beautiful poem my friend. You stand to your name, Visonary. I miss your reviews. I did like your poem, but death does not come just because you have an empty nest.
