Well, when I found this and say your name, I knew it would be wonderful. This battle between good and ego plays out beautifully. The drama is in the dialogue, and that's ingenious. There's no bloodshed, only an intellectual debate between the emotion and "intellect." Brilliantly done. The conclusion is fantastic. Your emphasis on free will is just what this world needs now--not another scapegoat. You are quite the philosopher in a poet's cloak. Excellent work.

With in the hands to mark time, a voice plays strong, for in that time a group of words push the right/ write/ march on/ we prisoners of our own devise lay down images we see, but the writer holds the pen so free will is still... liked this... Walt

Great picture to match this. I always find there's an alter ego telling me something different. Ego, here seems a bit selfish. Maybe that's our test to who we listen to in ourselves. A nice story with a message. Wonderfully written. Les

Great thoughts on the subject of free will. It has always pondered me in my life. but I do believe that God has given us free will. If not we would be robots. wandering aimlessly around right? so anyway I like the way you played the devil's advocate here.

urban, old school hipster(as opposed to new school pretentiousness)wish it could have gone on longer;have them running across more people to discuss, which would give them more time to have further discussion with continuing depth getting deeper as it travels along-maybe this can serve as the beginning of an extended piece. It's a testament to God's mysteriousness that even the perceptive His Greyness doesn't have an answer to the free will/God's will question

HI VAL! Thanks so much for your poignent comments as alwsys, powerful and meaningful. Surely I do not have the answer to this question as also reflected in my following write BOLT MY WILL. It's everlastingly ponderable but in the end we all make our choices and then we must sit at the table of their consequences. Great to hear from you and hope you are well and prosperous! Vance

This is indeed different. With "heart" and "ego" being the main factors, one can simply place themselves into the scenario. The last two lines are what grasped me definitively.

This poem has a great message that is preceded by an interring set up that is perfectly depicted in the picture. I like the ending, "Is to open our heart, put our ego away, close Our eyes and honestly pray". Powerful truth with no shifting blame.

Vance this poem has so many great points in it. A lot of times our ego can cause us to blow up like a bulldog, but the reality is who r we to judge. Free will, yes we have but sometimes we have lessons to learn from it.

Hi Vance, a great work filled with nuggets of wisdom.
So simply stated your messages convey the importance of letting the power of ego diminish. It is a hard call for many. But it really is vital.
Well penned and a great thought provoking piece my friend.
Thanks for sharing it.
Maureen
