Cannot say that I have much respect for American Indian cultures, but I haven't studied them. I take my attitude second hand from Mark Twain who wrote of their savage actions, and likened them to the French who he deplored.
However, your poem is a pleasure to read and I must award you your due: excellent.

This is a very interesting poem rich in history and meaning. The shape of the poem leads the reader through the wonderful flow of the poem.

I, too have a great interest in Native American culture;
I so like the concept of your well-penned poem written to resemble a totem pole;
Creativity and a fine dedication to the important elements of nature are finely expressed.

A good totam poem with the still statue in animated action. The story of the American native told in a very bold and superb way.
Well done on this short totem poem.
Cheerio, Ritchie.

I did like the shape and many would call this a shape poem so let's called it a Totem Shape poem.
The other shape poem I like is the Teardrop Shape - really stunning and beautiful. Maybe I should get creative again Tom?

Dear Treischel,
Nice shape poem. Are you part Native American? I see you live in St Paul. Have you visited the Effigy Mounds Monument near McGregor, Iowa? It is quite inspiring. This verse flows very well and brings to mind the worship of our heavenly father.
Warm regards,
Winslow

Thank you Winslow. No I haven't visited there, but I'll add it to my wish list. Not Native American, but have worked with many as a Small Business advocate in my carrpeer.

What a beautiful poem honoring life...Mother Earth...and the Self. I really enjoyed the flow and the energy that seems to reverberate through the abdomen with this piece.

I like the way that the words are arranged on the page.
It has a cadence like a drumbeat and it is easy to read.
The attached photo is a mirror that reflects the message.
Thank You for your creation.

Very, Very, very nice. different, like the style the definition of meaning in the poem. The dedication and appreciation for Native American culture. I could almost hear the dubs as I read it. Excellent poem. God bless.

Grat take on the totem pole with your verse shape. I enjoyed the beat of the drum and could visualize the dance. When I lived in Lawton, Oklahoma we were able to see how the indians lived and their art as well. Great picture adds to your presentation. Smiles. Robin :)
