Big Smile. I think a frog could look beautiful next to orchids. They are one of the most beautiful flowers on earth. Purples, pinks, lavenders are the most beautiful colors on the planet. Big Smile.

I love that you notice the little things. Every once in awhile I do the same thing. I'll be driving down a country road and notice the hanging baskets or decorations in the fields and think, "Wow, that's amazing."

Appreciation for the little things, eh?

I like this poem, it reflects the mood of the house. A simple structure, refined and traditional, yet radiant in the glow of the orchids.

I had not come across the word, "lanai", before. When I looked up the meaning, the image generated by your words was even stronger. Often a seemingly plain object can be given a whole new lease of life with a splash of color.

Well Done.

Thank you my dear. I remember once visiting the ruins of an ancient Greek church high up over the ocean cliffs, the wind whistling through the structure ... and outside the door was an olive tree that was supposedly a thousand years old ...

So lovely and almost just sweet and conversational in tone. Great juxtaposition between old and glow. Beautiful imagery of the simple house hiding a wonderful secret--that amazing orchid curtain. Or is it the other way around? And which is more wonderful? The elegance or the simplicity? Layer upon layer. Love this work.

Oh yes, but you always make me think--no matter what. I can just be so tired, and then there's Sharyn with her big brain to introduce something else to ponder--and wake me up! lol
It's terribly refreshing! Hope all is well.
    Take care.

Just as this poem glows! Not just in presentation (I found my sunglasses and that helped) but in the fact you NOTICED. We seldom stop to SEE the roses, let alone smell them! Funny thing... I was just finishing up and editing a poem about looking/seeing the little things, and here you beat me to it! LOL! Great minds DO think alike, after all. :)

They do indeed Phyllis - clever little bunnies, aren't we? Glad you enjoyed it dear - will I need sunnies for yours?
reply by Phyllis Stewart on 22-Apr-2013
Nope, I'm nowhere near as bold, bright and sunny as you are. I'm more of a beige, olive mist, smoky blue and dusty rose kinda gal. :)

Hi Sharyn, this is such a beautiful work to read when I am sore, after chores I'm ready to move to a condo:D Made me smile, and brought me some sunshine:D
Great work and spreading the sunshine's beauty with this one.
Thanks for sharing it.

Purple orchids! Wow, how lovely. I simply cannot imagine them growing wild anywhere near here. We do grow white icicles though, lol! Bright and uplifting.

What a beautiful poem! So pleasant! Loved the set up and staging ; ) the form and presentation. Had a lovely flow to it, and a feeling of meekness and tranquility. I have been spending some time in forum while not feeling well these past two weeks and this piece was a breath of fresh air, my girl! Deciding on whether to use a pic so I can finally make a post of my own. Was pleased I had a six back for you for this wonderful write. Hugs!

Another of the yucks has reached out and grabbed me, so unfortunately not. First several days are always horrid and I've spent the weekend in bed, but thank you for asking. Got sidetracked by reviews for the first time in weeks so haven't made my latest post yet but getting there, lol! How are you? Your write was simply beautiful, how's that girlie : )

It is often the small details that flare into our vision and take our breath away. I often stop in my tracks in awe at seemingly insignificant things. I am familiar w/ the transformation you are speaking of and you illustrate it well with the purple orchids.
