I love this! Funny story in your poem, and so, so true! I work retail, so, of course, it is my job to greet the customers. You can't imagine how many times I will speak to someone only to get really weird looks from them, because they are either plugged in to their earbuds or have a blue tooth (that I can't see) and be having their own conversation. How odd that I feel like I'm the one being rude and interrupting lol Awesome poem! :)

The poet is alone in a world that needs to unplug. The crap that zaps, will leave the us flat.
Of course, people are never satisfied. The girl that skips to her own music, in my youth was called someone that marches to the beat of their own drum. A kind of soft put down.
I suppose the iPhone generation would see her in the same light.

Oh, technology has robbed us of so much. Users drown out the calming sounds of nature and human conversation. Nice build-up of details of this sweet bird of youth who skips to her own inner music.

I knew I was in trouble, spits, when I moved in with my husband in San Francisco ... beautiful picture window with fog rolling in, quiet ... he immediately turned on the TV so we could have "movie background music". OMG! Why didn't I run while I had the chance!!!????

Oh, you are so against technology now, huh? Great poem to a way of life without the gizmos we've grown so used to. I love them actually, but I also love nature. I guess you figured that out. My dream is to live in the jungle writing.

not against technology - just against it when people "turn off" to other people because of it eg: I go to the gym, which now has treadmills with TV, so everyone stares at their TV sets, plugged in with earphones, and no one talks. Before the advent of the all singing-all dancing-TV treadmills, people would chat to each other as they walked. Same thing with my son - he now gets in the car when I pick him up from school, grunts, puts on his headset, reclines his seat and goes to sleep. Wow, that was a fun conversation about your day. If I go down to the B&B to talk to my cleaning lady, she first has to say 'goodbye' to whoever she's chatting with on the cellphone (with hands-free attachment of course). Personally I rather enjoy getting into my car and NOT having a cell phone with me - it's almost as good as a vacation! BUT I do love my computer - when it works! :))

I actually turn off my cell phone when I'm driving. I don't like anything to distract me. I ride motorcycles too, and it's not a good idea. When I go to the gym, I don't take any technology. I mean, I have them, but I turn everything off. I think I know what you mean: Obsession.
