Ahoha nui Sharyn
You have nailed this one. I love the artwork, it reminds me of nights I spent up on the North shore at night

Bless you, Bear - yes, our moon is incredibly bright here - no city lights to get in the way! :)S

Well you certainly got me with wax poetic. Had to get the dictionary out, then again and I should still look again. I think I have the drift of it - so that we can enjoy the poetic mood of the reappearance. Am I close? Other than that I enjoyed the poem and your descriptive visions in passing.

"to wax poetic" - an idiomatic expression simply meaning "to be profusely poetic". The moon through the month is either "waxing" or "waning" - i.e. growing bigger, or growing smaller - so this is where the expression actually came from. Hope that helps dear! :)))Sharyn

Ya I read that. Didn't apply to my logic. Close but no cigar. Thxs for your reply with your explanation of wax poetic.

    "close but no cigar"??????

Oh, it's an old slang term for almost getting, having, etc. for to achieve getting, having, etc. you win the cigar!

tricky thing personifying the inanimate w/out it seeming silly. well, you definitely don't fall in that trap. really like " her blowing curtains of soft gray rain/ to peer at us"

I agree rb - the "odes" usually have me in fits of giggles (which is why I never write them!) :)S

I enjoyed reading your poem Soft curtains. It is beautifully written and the imagery is wonderful. My absolute favorite part is the last stanza.

Bravo! You get my first six this week!

There's a round window << wonderful metaphor
glinting silver
in the sky tonight

Languid, << One of my favorite words
the full moon
slowly sweeps back
her blowing curtains of soft grey rain << Truly outstanding
to peer at us
in vast amusement

before she slides them closed again
and slips back into bed of velvet << Another fabulous metaphor

Like voyeurs,
we wait for her to reappear
so we can wax poetic

You are a word master... word mistress? Word PERSON! I think that's the PC word now. :)

As a long time moon lover, how I could I not love this one.

I especially loved:

Like voyeurs,
we wait for her to reappear
so we can wax poetic

Hugs, d

So soft and gentle and lovely. Do I hear Chopin in the background? I'll be darned. This is what we all think and want to say but can't, and you've captured it and Lady Luna so perfectly. Wouldn't change a line or word. I hate to keep gushing over your work, but come on. This is just fabulous. It won't let me give you another six because I've made a habit of it. Ahhh, whatever.

What do I imagine? A noir movie. Cops on stakeout. Falling in love with a possible femme fatale. I don't know why my mind goes in that direction, but it's your fault.

This is lovely. You convey such a strong, vivid image that you actually didn't need the illustration...yet it is also lovely. Very, very nice work with this one.
