Aloha Sharyn,
This is beautiful and full of love and passion. I love the sights and sounds that you have on Maui. So very well described, word by word it's special. As you know I'm out of "6" Star Ratings. Here's my special "10" Starfish Award.
Aloha, Ginger

So calm, so peaceful, so sweet and inviting. This is like a sweet old song. I do just love this work, as I do all of your work. The language here is amazing: "trade wind drops to silence," "sea's sighing over sand-stranded rocks," "stirring crickets' constant chorus to crescendo," "an errant rooster forgets what time it is." The last phrase made me smile. I was absolutely wistful. Just a masterful work. So glad to have read this and taken this walk into the night with you. Wonderful.

Crap, crap, crap -
No sixes allowed, Sharyn.
This is the most beautiful poem I've read in a while. Original!!
Just your style. Light, but smart. Calm, but with anticipation for that hip to hip quiet togetherness.
hot chocolate ... 'nuff said!

Perfect word groupings, consonance, alliteration and Love! You are the all-round perfect poet.

Oh to have a six. I spend them much too freely early in the week! I need more than six!

Patti

What a beautiful picture to compliment a beautiful piece of writing. It took me back to a time when I lived by the sea and loved it. Cheers Fez.

"sea's sighing
over sand-stranded rocks..." Great feeling in your lines, magnificent alliteration in the "s" sound as well. This poem for sure is enchanting.

Sharyn, this is a very excellent write. Too bad, I'm not allowed to give you the six stars, it deserves. Reading it made me recall such nights, long ago. Hearing sounds that had to be created some 15 miles away. A train whistle, dogs barking on one side at wolves baying on the other side of me. A bird warning of a predator in the area; a small animals scream, probably its last breath. Sorry, my one track mind took over. I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Your admirer, Bob

A gorgeous picture to hightlight and enhance another gorgeous poem.

I'm kind of running out of words here, my dear.

You have such a way with words ... ticks the clock ....

Brilliant two concluding lines - creates such a vivid picture.

Quiet nights of quiet stars
Quiet chords from my guitar
Floating on the silence that surrounds us . . .

And we settle in to the beautiful language of this lyrical lay.

Then, "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" An insomniac rooster enters, stage right. (You just can't get good help these days.)

Cheers,
DW
