The dreadful sport at Agincourt
reduced so many to despair.
Sad girls like Anna who never can
recover from what's unfair

Exceptional

Excellent concise piece of flash fiction in 55 words. It is poetic and tells the story of an age that was the subject of one of Shakespeare's finest plays. A jewel of enlightenment to the age of Henry V and the battle of Agincourt.

Thank you Smudge, for your kind review and the six star rating. The picture is supposed to be Agincourt one of my favorite pieces of history... Kind regards Mel.

Write Hand Blue, you have written an excellent 55 word story from beginning to end. I don't know anything about Knights or King Henry, but if I did, I would say that you did a superb job!! Ha! Good luck in the contest. Carole

Her favor, a beautiful pink ribbon, remains eternally in my death grip.

And there it will stay forever more. Wonderful story and in only 55 words to. Sigh once a knight always a knight.

What a nice, short story- Never knew much about knights. Now, thanks to this writing, I shall have to read up on Sir Percy Howard. Interesting note about a maiden giving a knight a favor of a ribbon. You've said about all that can be said in 55 words! But it has led me on. Thanks for sharing. Betty

Thank you Betty, for your kind review. This story is entered as fiction and Sir Percy in also a fictional character. Favours were given to Knights by interested ladies. You will find plenty to read on the subject... Mel.

Its OK to receive a favour as you described it, especially from a beautiful lady. Its too bad that Sir Percival did not survive the battle. Better to have not gone at all. I can say this because I don't believe in war.

The Roman numeral V makes it 56; is that okay? I'm just asking, because I need to know for myself. Anyway, I liked the story and the education.

Thank you amahra, for your kind review. I did query it and it seems that the Roman Numeral is not counted. See my query on the comp. site. Good luck... Mel.

This story is told clearly from beginning to end. The honor of a fallen knight with a completed mission is unbeatable. The writer gets the reader to where the reader needs to go feeling dignity.
