Most compelling poem on time and age, from childhood
innocence and sweetness, so unawares of time, until
as we see our elderly parents lives wane, reality
sets in, with the ultimate truth and realigy so
brilliantly and hear wrencingly confiremd in your
last stanza. Wow...what an impact.
Thanks for sharing...best always...

Sonnet Poetry Contest. How stunning this is and also comes across as elegant. Perfect for this contest.

So true about time, just turning a page. Why grandchildren become so important. For to know they shall have a turn makes the thought of dying much easier.

Beautiful as always, Jo

Hi Sharyn,

You have written a lovely poem for the contest. The theme is unusual but very well composed. Your rhyme has the lyrical charm of the sonnet, your count is spot on, the flow is smooth and the theme is superb. Well done and good luck in the contest....blessings, chey

Your well penned poem about the stages of life from birth to old age is well penned. When we are young, we fill we have time to do everything our hearts desire. Sadly, we come to realize that Father Time holds the trump card of life.

Sorry dear Sharyn - For whatever reason I don't have the six for you this sonnet deserves. Fitting subject for a sonnet, growing older. Great iambic pentameter, even with complicated multi-syllable words like "Inexorably" LOL! Good twist in the third stanza and the closing couplet is very creative and an excellent summary. Best of luck in this contest. Hugs, Sue

Bless you, Sue - I think you've been liberal with dishing out sixes to me this month and mean old FS only gives us two in a month, dammit. I do so appreciate your wonderful, supportive and appreciative reviews! :)Sharyn

I am not sure how I missed this pearl in my inbox! This is another beautiful and poignant poem. The last line especially is to die for. Warm regards Indie

This a very lovely sonnet. The iambic pentameter flows smoothly, although "inexorably" gave me bit of a pause. My favorite line was; Against our Mistress Time they'll not prevail. Well written and so true. Nice job! -Steve

Thx Steve - I do believe inexorably works though, strange though that might seem - funny word to put in a poem anyway - have no idea how it got there! he he he! :)))S

It did work! It was just my numb tongue that tripped over it. ;)

As usual, a beautiful poem from a gifted writer. A sensitive portrayal of growing older and the indifference of Time. I can totally relate to this. I see my parents fade in this heart breaking way. Almost makes you wish we could go on in this world forever, but only for a minute. Thanks for sharing a beautiful piece!

That she truly does. One minute you are the young one and suddenly the
page has turned and it is you that suddenly is the elder family member. It
happens over night. Your verse is lovely, well written and enjoyable.
Smiles. Robin :)
