Some people are very negative. I can't believe how it can be. But it is not good for us to always be around those people. I think that's why I enjoy my first graders so much. They are normally a pretty cheerful bunch. Once it awhile one of them has a bad day, but it sure doesn't last long. Loved your poem.

Hi Debbie,
it's always nice to be there for people, but the one or ones you are writing this for, I call human vacuum cleaners, they suck the energy right out of you with the cups half empty attitude. It's like they know when your defenses are low and they can attack. Protect yourself,take a deep breath,put a white light around you and just be. Well written and conveyed.

it's always nice to be there for people, but the one or ones you are writing this for, I call human vacuum cleaners, they suck the energy right out of you with the cups half empty attitude. This was a really good poem and very true. I hate being around negative people. It's so easy for their negative attitudes to take you over no matter how hard you try not to let them get to you.

Yes, I spent the day I wrote this around a very negative person who seen to feel it was their duty to make everyone miserable. Sorry if my impatience for that came shining through. Thanks, Jonathon~Debbie

you express the feeling well that many of us share - my ex husband was often like the person you address - he walked into the room and brought a blanket of gloom with him - it just sapped the good mood out of everyone else - hardly anyone likes to be around that kind of person

Wow! A strong poem, with intense emotion. I loved mainly how you used the word "interlude" here, it had really good effect. It was kind of sad and kind of heartbreaking poem. THe negativity around us can break us, that is for sure.
