Some people are very negative. I can't believe how it can be. But it is not good for us to always be around those people. I think that's why I enjoy my first graders so much. They are normally a pretty cheerful bunch. Once it awhile one of them has a bad day, but it sure doesn't last long. Loved your poem.

Some people can just such the happiness out of a room. Sad, isn't it? Debbie

Hi Debbie,
it's always nice to be there for people, but the one or ones you are writing this for, I call human vacuum cleaners, they suck the energy right out of you with the cups half empty attitude. It's like they know when your defenses are low and they can attack. Protect yourself, take a deep breath, put a white light around you and just be. Well written and conveyed.
Kindest wishes,
James xx

This was a really good poem and very true. I hate being around negative people. It's so easy for their negative attitudes to take you over no matter how hard you try not to let them get to you.

Your Agony

I am happy just to be

Please keep your own misery

I don't want your rotten mood

To spoil my quiet interlude

Constant negativity

Does always rub off on me

Try to change your attitude

To envision gratitude

If not, you're destined to be

In your pain and agony

Gee. Is this a way you're trying to say that if you don't have anything positive to say, keep it to yourself?

Thanks for sharing this. JW

Yes, I spent the day I wrote this around a very negative person who seen to feel it was their duty to make everyone miserable. Sorry if my impatience for that came shining through. Thanks, Jonathon~Debbie

Oh this is so true. We can be ever so happy and then have someone come in in a foul mood and it invades on your happy atmosphere. Good piece. God loves you and I do too.

Debbie, this is a very good write and your rhymes are perfect.
I think we have all known someone who could bring clouds to a sunny day or, a wet blanket to a joyful gathering or, a one worse than your near death story. Thank you for telling them to stay away and suffer in silence. Your friend, Bob

excellent rhyming couplets
you express the feeling well that many of us share - my ex husband was often like the person you address - he walked into the room and brought a blanket of gloom with him - it just sapped the good mood out of everyone else - hardly anyone likes to be around that kind of person

This is well written my friend sometimes things do get on top of us and we have to deal with a lot we do sympathize with others but we have to let them sort things out well done again regards Jill

Oh, this kind of people that complain all the time should find something interesting to do. This poem is gonna go to a person I know. She is talented but is directionless.

Wow! A strong poem, with intense emotion. I loved mainly how you used the word "interlude" here, it had really good effect. It was kind of sad and kind of heartbreaking poem. THe negativity around us can break us, that is for sure.
