This was a great little short story! The only thing I noticed was that you used "wrapped" when I think you wanted "rapt"...Good job though:)

I too share your love for F1 racing. I saw Fangio, Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorn and others racing in the early 1950s when my dad took us kids every year to watch at Silverstone and Goodwood. I find it surprising today how many women are fans almost as many woman as men go to the F1 races.

You have crafted this story, the noise and excitement of race day very well. It has been a pleasure to read... Mel.

Thank you for your most generous rating, but most importantly your great review.

I always wanted to attend the race at Silverstone. How fortunate you were that your dad took you there ... what great memories.

Excellent article on racing. What makes this especially interesting is your personal connection to the sport. Your clear and concise explanations of the fine points were another plus. In particular, the slingshot passage was the best. Enjoyed this a lot.

I am not a lover of any type of racing. As I was growing up, we had a two story house a quarter mile from the local drag racining. I never got the urge to atten. This is very well written.

Marisa,
I have to confess I just make a big mistake !!!

It happens that sometimes I take the wrong approach to go down and read the final ending lines of a story, and if I like it, then I go up to start reading from the very beginning.

That happened with your story....and I read......"that brief moment of being behind the wheel of one of those beautiful machines and to be in complete command of all that power and speed"........

My very first thought that came to my mind was....."poor guy, this girl is a real wild beast....this has to be a true hot and sexy story"....

I WAS WRONG........and happily surprised !!

Now I laugh after enjoying your fascinating description of the energetic and exciting emotion that somebody as you (and me too), has felt all your life for the race cars.

And yes, I dont know why this is a "macho" kind of sport, that deserve to be embraced also by great girls like you.

So thanks for your great writing and congratulations
Saludos
Abio

Thank you Abio for your great review. I am glad the story ended up being one you liked, even if it was a bit different than you thought it would be.

However, this is the only time in my life I ever wished to change places with my male counterparts, just for that brief moment of being behind the wheel of one of those beautiful machines and to be in complete command of all that power and speed.

Marisa this is great girl and I'll bet you still ache to get behind the wheel too. Well consider the Porsche.

I, too, have learned all about car racing from my husband who is a NASCAR and Indy fan for many years. I cheered when I heard Danica won the pole position for this year's Daytona 500. I would love to fly in a race car so I totally loved your story and feel the passion you have for the industry. Good job.

Marisa, Oh my gosh, this is a fabulous story. I was so sorry that it ended. I love fast cars too and have been to many exciting races, but never to NasCar or Daytona races. However, I've been to the Daytona track.

My young grandson said to me, asking about my truck, "Grandma, why is that gear shift on the floor?" I said, "Cuz it makes me tough!"

When I was a teenager, I used to tell my father that I wanted to take his 57 Chevy to the show with a girl friend. Then I would hit the main street in our area, called "Woodward". I could beat any guy on a drag, any day of the week! I didn't tell my father about my racing in his car until I was about 40 years old!!

Marisa, This was a great story and I really enjoyed it and the memories. Carole

this is such a wonderful review and thank you so much for sharing your love of fast cars with me. We are certainly on the same page when it comes to this subject.

I learned to drive on my dad's 55 Chevy with three on the column and I later graduated to four on the floor and never looked back. I also drive a truck and have driven trucks for the better part of 30 years now.

So glad you enjoyed this piece and I thank you for your generous rating.

One can tell when your enthusiasm is in one of your essays... you bring so much into the non-fiction slice of what's in your head. And you say so much. You say more than, 'I like..', 'I love...', 'I enjoy...'. When reading you we know why... you give us a taste of what has moved you, changed you, encouraged you...

This to me is like a progressive series of snapshots that takes us to the final paragraph... the one that sums it all all... that tells us the 'why'...

And like always, Marisa... I reach the end of the read and say... I'm so satisfied... because you give me a full course meal... and dessert!

Well done

greg

Thanks for taking the time to reading this 'snore' of an essay/journal entry of mine. Do think you should have waited until your bedtime and that way it would have put you right to sleep ... I may market it as the new super sleep aid.

Seriously, I appreciate you managing to draw a positive review from this. As always, you were too kind and overly generous.
The fact that you could even write such a great review is a tribute to your considerable writing talent and most certainly not to mine.

    Thanks again

Thanks, Greg, I did not mean to imply in any way that you were not being genuine in sharing your thoughts on this piece. I always appreciate your perspective and viewpoint.

This is simply not a piece that I take pride in, but they can't all be gems, I guess.

    Thanks Mate, I appreicate you
