Whew! Loved reading that-how gallant of you to write such a moving thank you to every poet you don't know and to those you do know, including me? Smiling at you right now. Thank you for writing in such an intimate way to all who read this. Kudos

Very powerful and moving, as your words always are. The poets of this world could just as soon be called the powerful, passionate, broken yet strong... We say, what others can't or won't. I think we live more fully this way than anyone can.
Hats off to your ode to the poets!
Loved this line especially:
You have no shame and you are on fire with the courage of your thoughts

Jacqueline: I truly appreciate your words as your talent and it's power behind your perspective are greatly cherished by me! I'm not surprised a bit that you would choose that particular line as it truly speaks of you!! Blessings and thanks again! Vance

Thanks. Sometimes I wish I could impart that to my younger self. I wasn't always this fearless and now I see my daughter going through the same insecurity. But only knowledge can be imparted to others not experience.
Look forward to more of your sincere words!

His Grayness, this is an outstanding account
of thoughts of appreciation. The mind of a Poet
is a gift unto himself. The gift unshared would
be a crime. I am with you. The late greats left
words that will thrive in infinity...Thanks for
making me stop in thought...I enjoyed my time
reading these words...

This is a lovely definition of what a poet hopes to do. Love the metaphysical connection in this:
Your spirit is an energy missile... a mental hypernova
Free for any sunrays or raindrops of consciousness to touch and feel
I suspect many reviewers give five stars to poetry because of its content. Let's face, the word choices and images are not always that good.
Hanging your word gifts on the tender-unguarded clothesline of life --fresh comparisons like this are what divide the good from the excellent. To use a cliche, my hat's off to you.

Oh this is an incredibly beautiful and touching free verse - you must be including yourself in this estimation of poets because this poem moved me deeply. It's very lovely sentiment is straight from the heart, I'm sure, and the metaphorical clothesline is one I won't soon forget. Nor will I forget the imagery of thoughts and feelings escaping into the ether to connect with others - simply exquisite.

ya know....I came here a year ago or so...now it seems like a life time. I lost myself, my wife, and for a minute my life...emptying it all in ink on this site...not even sure why. I suppose its safer than sitting across the table from someone whispering inner secrets. I've met so many people here from everywhere...all walks of life...real people, made friends with some... who I will carry with me forever...Been taught, given advice, encouraged.....blessed -smile- Love you Vance...you are my friend and I dont forget...Thank you for including me amongst all this magnificent talent...truly touching love you Michael

Amen I so agree about the poets of this world and the poets here. That willingness to open up the personal soul for another to enter in. To even be placed on the line for criticism. Well written. Like the willing to risk to touch, teach and share.
Blessings my friend, Jo

You present us with a highly idealized image of the poet. I mean I am flattered to be a mental hypernova radiating from my heart and soul. Basically we want to create awesome imagery and grand cadence that might burn in your memory after you have forgotten our names. Basically we want to remind all of humanity how beautiful we all are. In reality, as human beings we probably love ourselves more than anyone else. We are puffed up with our vanity, negative emotions and those terrible passions we all are heir to. I'm not challenging your words. I think you are a man of fine feelings but as The poet Schiller once said;
"We must learn to think by feeling and feel by thinking."

Ekim: Thanks for you deep thought and valued perspectives. I do believe Poetry is an imperative blend of both feeling AND thinking although the mix is often out of balance. But I do celebrate both initiatives. Thanks again for you kind review! Vance
