You have sparked an interest in me to find out more about Buffalo Soldiers.
They are not a group I have ever studied in depth before...if ever.
Thanks for the nudge to learn something new.

Thanks for your read, honest comments and good rating.
I am glad you want to learn more about this group of
soldiers. The Native Americans gave thess Black Soldiers

The story of the buffalo soldiers is well told in this acrostic that honors their memory in verse. Their lot was an unfortunate one, for they fought for the same things, yet never were recognized for it.
Well done,
Curt

This is a powerful acrostic poem on the unfair treatment that was shown to those soldiers and to so many others during those times. Very well written! Brian

Hi t,
I see you haven't lost your touch with your gifted pen and I am glad to see you posting again. You have penned a perfect acrostic with expressive words that are compelling and well composed. I have heard of the Buffalo Soldiers and remember what good fighters they were. You bring that out so eloquently in this poem. Well done...chey

You have used strong, descriptive words to tell how things were back then. Thank goodness, there are now shows on TV that give these brave men the respect they were denied.

good acrostic about an unfortunately overlooked portion of the history of westward expansion. I know an acrostic limits what you can do, but try another poem written from the perspective of a buffalo soldier

An Excellent job on your acrostic poem. Your message of inequality was aptly conveyed via well chosen sentiments and wording. The white print on blue was very bold and jumps off the page at the reader. Very good pick of picture accompanying poem as well.

You capture a time when individuality became heroism and adventurism was in style. It might have been a bloody, black time but nearly every chapter in history is a record of warfare. We are all seduced by the symbol patriotism but what about the symbol of the free spirit. The sense of adventure fueled by our very souls. Where is that now, in the land of the free? I think our poet tries to capture it in her opening lines. -Ekim777

A wonderful acrostic you have written on Buffalo Soldier.
You show that ther is little respect for people who are not all the same, though you did your very bewt as they all did.
Your wonderful artwork by wallypete is so perfect for this verse, and no one could have written it better.
Blessings, Joan
