A burning light to give hope is what I depict from this poem the darkness taken away by the friendship you have. This is a very sweet poem it also gives me an image of flanders field.

    Hello Cragler,

Thank you for embracing my poem " in fields of friendship".

I wrote it for my friends
It was intended to celebrate the gift of friends.
In this crazy world of bombs at marathon races and mentally-unbalancd murderers of innocent school-children , friends are indeed a bright fire to welcome us home and the scarlet poppies waving a joyous welcome!

Thank you for your thoughtful impressions of " in fields of friendship"

A wonderful way to describe a friendship. Combining colors and landscapes. Mingling the two as an artist would with paints to a canvas, you have done with words to paper, or in this case a computer screen. Well done Jill!! As usual you made me smile and feel warm inside with your work. Thank you for sharing.

    Good morning lady Macbeth,

Funny that you say that my poems make you smile and that there is a warmth that draws you inside of my work because I feel that same connection and energy as I dwell within your poems....

I am so pleased that you enjoyed " in fields of friendship". I intended it to be a gift for my dearest friends.

This is a lovely poem. Poppies are one of my favorite wild flowers.
In the midst of my winter-white landscape canvas
our friendship is a field
of blazing scarlet poppies
That is a lovely thought.
Kudos. Nancy

    Good morning Nancy,
I am delighted to see that you taking a peek into my portfolio and that you discovered this little poem " in fields of friendship".
Thank you for sharing your generous and candid impressions of this poem
It is interesting to me that this very simple short poem that I posted earlier this year for a very dear friend received as much interest . I kind of thought of it as a "sleeper" with pride but no real confidence that it would take off. Just goes to show that life is a delicious surprise.

I am very pleased that you enjoyed reading this piece nearly as much as I enjoyed writing it
As I have said before, it will be a joy getting to know you through your poems.
If you interested in anything else, I can suggest a couple of my favorites
" blue" and "martini" were written years apart and have no obvious similarities.
You don't have to review them, just enjoy!!

    Until next time,
    Jill

A lovely poem about friendship.

"a single star in a black sky
shining bright enough
to guide me home"

Beautiful lines. Loved the artwork too. Enhanced the whole effect.

Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! you just know how to use your poetry and writing to encourage me to want to write, but as I said before, I've got a very long way to go to reach your level. I'll sit at your feet and learn from the hand of a master to improve myself. your writing has a certain element of stimulating one to discover the heart of the poet.
Well done
you're a rock star.
Cool bananas and warm regards
Nebs
This is a funny site - it does not allow me to give you a six star for this poem.

Beautiful poem.

I wanted to select a line that was especially meaningful, but I loved them all. I have a few friends that I feel this way about.

In the midst of my winter-white landscape canvas
our friendship is a field
of blazing scarlet poppies
A circle of cheer
to celebrate
a whisper of warmth
to embrace
and
a single star in a black sky
shining bright enough
to guide me home

I love it all!

Oh, dear, I am not much of a poet. I guess start with Creativity, it is the happy poem, and Immortal is my love song. Those still have some member dollars on them too, I think. :) Have fun! Look forward to your feedback.

This work has reached the exceptional level

This is an incandescent poem! "Our friendship is a field of blazing scarlet poppies"--over a canvas of winter white. What a colorful metaphor and a tribute to friendship. Mirrored at the end of the poem by "a single star in a black sky," another vivid metaphor. And the precious ending: "enough to guide me home." (Isn't that exactly what friends do for each other?). A superlative poem!

Very nicely done. The words of your poem are certainly true. A true friend is hard to find these days and if you're lucky enough, better hang on with both hands. Good luck in the contest. Bill

A beautiful poem my friend. Well penned and presented. Beautiful imagery you have written into this poem. It makes me want for spring. Stay safe this weekend during the snowstorm you are supposed to get.
